Halo & Destiny Composer, Marty O’Donnell, Fired by Bungie

Marty O’Donnell took to Twitter to announced that he had been dismissed by Bungie’s board of directors in a move that he says was without cause.

Ubisoft Gives Press Members Tablets at a Watch Dogs Event. Who Can We Trust Now?

watch-dogs-atm-headerI’ve talked about the bought and paid for reputation of games news reporting before on the blog. However, not everyone in the industry has gotten the growing message that readers and viewers are increasingly concerned about the ethics of games reporting.

The latest example is from a recent press event held by Ubisoft in Paris for Watch Dogs. At the event, the attending invited press members were given free Google Nexus 7 tablets.

Yet Another Battlefield 4 Bug is Discovered. Will This Game Ever be Fixed?

battlefailed-4-headerIn news that should surprise absolutely no one, another bug has been discovered in Battlefield 4. Whether this bug has existed since launch and never been documented with proof until now or was inadvertently created with another patch isn’t known.

What I can tell you is that you shouldn’t shoot in the vicinity of downed soldiers. The new “Death Shield” bug will make you pay by launching projectiles you fire toward a downed soldier back at you and killing you.

Goat Simulator Review: G.O.A.T.Y.

goat-simulator-headerIs a comedy game that’s openly considered to be a joke by its own developer and much of the gaming press something that’s a meta joke that also happens to be a game or just a joke that isn’t worth the time and money to buy and play it?

If you’ve read other reviews of Goat Simulator, that’s what they all come down to, whether the reviewer says so or not. Should a game that the developer says is a comparative waste of money be evaluated based on the developer’s promises and description of the game or should it be evaluated against every other game on the market?

The answer has to lie somewhere in the middle ground. Can you punish a game for being a below average technical effort while being exactly what was promised by the devs and hoped for by gamers?
