The two men who were behind the much beloved then much derided Game of Thrones series are no longer at the helm of the next stage of Star Wars movies.
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss announced early on Tuesday morning that they would no longer be at the helm of the first Star Wars movies to follow Episode IX and will instead focus on their commitments to Netflix.
Behind the Scenes of Game of Thrones Epic Season Finale Opening Scene
Director Miguel Sapochnik wasn’t tasked with putting together massive scenes for just one episode of Game of Thrones this year. He was also tasked with an instantly memorable opening scene for the trials of Loras and Cersei. Of course, this being Dave, Dan and Miguel, they accomplished that with the most watched and most loved episode in Game of Thrones history.
Once again, to look inside another amazing sequence, HBO put together this seven-minute featurette behind the scenes of the scene’s acting, writing and visual effects. Remember though, the video is dark and full of spoilers.
Game of Thrones: The Winds of Winter Review
Inside Game of Thrones’ Battle of Winterfell
This week’s episode of Game of Thrones was certainly one of the most epic in the show’s history. As amazing as the slaughter of Hardhome was last season, the Battle of Winterfell in the Battle of the Bastards was an even bigger set piece for the series. There were more actors, horses, props and CGI than ever before in one of these battles. The result was some of the best action in the show’s history.
To examine the battle, HBO put together this 11 minute featurette on the making of the battle. Remember though, the video is dark and full of spoilers.
Game of Thrones: Battle of the Bastards Review
Sure, Game of Thrones is at its best when it tells a story and focuses on its characters. However, the show also has this expectation that the ninth episode will wow us. This season’s ninth episode brings us the biggest and most expensive battle in the show’s history as the forces of Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton did battle for control of Winterfell and the North. And, yes, it was pretty epic.
Game of Thrones: No One Review
With next week being the generally epic and iconic Episode Nine of the season, this week’s episode was tasked with closing up some plots and setting up others for the season finale. Surprisingly, it was the storylines that were building toward episode ten that were more satisfying than the parts of the episode that wrapped up an existing story. Read the rest of this entry
Game of Thrones: The Broken Man Review
Now that I’m thinking about it, the title of this episode, The Broken Man, works on a literal level. Each storyline featured a male character that is broken in some role. Jaime is missing a hand. Theon is mentally broken. The Mountain might have lurked in the background but he’s a zombie and you could make the argument that Jon Snow is as well. The title is surprisingly on the nose. Well, at least we got Bronn back.
Game of Thrones: Blood of My Blood Review
Last week, everybody was left crying at the conclusion of Game of Thrones. This week, there was far less crying and even a few exciting, fist-pumping moments that were balanced out by some pretty intriguing twists. Sadly, no Littlefinger to bring us those plot twists. Westeros’s other resident master schemer did, though.
Behind the Scenes of Game of Thrones: The Door’s Final Scene
Hopefully you’ve watched this week’s episode of Game of Thrones and read the review because it’s time to look at the final scene. Game of Thrones is known for these epic setpieces that make it one of the most amazing and most expensive shows on television. Even a little ten minute ending scene is a massive undertaking for the show. HBO’s cameras went behind the scenes to show us what went into making the final scene of this week’s episode, The Door.
By the way, spoilers.
Game of Thrones: The Door Review
I hope that you weren’t too excited by how things played out last week because all of your hopes for happy moments this week were dashed. Instead, this fifth episode of the season saw normal service resume for Game of Thrones. I’m not sure everyone will be happy about that but damned if it doesn’t keep you hooked right ’til the very end.
