The Outer Worlds Speedrun Record Already Set at 11 Minutes

The Outer Worlds hasn’t been out for about a month but it already has an impressive speedrun record. According to HowLongToBeat, the average time to play the game is about 12 hours. If you want to beat it with some sidequests, that playtime crawls up to closer to 22 hours. If you want to play it fast? That will win you less than 2% of the run time at 10 minutes and 49 seconds. That was the case for Sharo who has already topped the Speedrun.com time sheets for The Outer Worlds Any%.

And here are the game directors of The Outer Worlds reacting to their latest game being beaten in less time than it takes to drink a coffee. This is a different speedrun by CreeperHntr. His time in this run would rank him 17th in the world.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 3 Review

Given the negativity that has plagued Star Wars since December 2017, it’s very refreshing to see how much praise that The Mandalorian is getting. With every episode, we’re getting converted (or re-converted) fans, praise for The Mandalorian being the best of Star Wars and declarations that each episode of The Mandalorian is the best one yet. We’re only three episodes into the first season of The Mandalorian but this episode sure seems to live up to all of that hype.

Valve Unveils Half-Life: Alyx VR Game

Is the meme dead? Not quite but it’s pretty damn close. Fans have been waiting twelve years for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or a full Half-Life 3 since the release of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 in October 2007.

It might not be Half-Life 3 Confirmed quite yet but Valve has announced what their first flagship VR game will be. It’s a return to their flagship franchise with Half-Life: Alyx.

Crash Bandicoot’s First New Game in Over a Decade May Be Coming Soon

While the rumours and confirmation of a new Half-Life game coming out of Valve has been getting all the headlines, another seemingly long-dead franchise is getting a revival. After getting a shot in the arm from a pair of re-releases, Crash Bandicoot will be getting its first new console game since 2008’s Mind Over Mutant with the rumoured release of Crash Bandicoot Worlds.

PlayStation 5 Controller Revealed in Japanese Patent

One of the forgotten storylines from the current console generation was how fondly received the PlayStation 4’s controller was relative to the PS3’s DualShock 3 and the Xbox One’s effort. Sony has a big task to follow-up on their leading console controller. To do so, they’ve decided to refine rather than revolutionize with their PlayStation 5 controller.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 2 Review

The response to The Mandalorian has been overwhelmingly positive. While that’s not a huge surprise for the Disney era of Star Wars, the fact that we’ve gone a week without backlash whiplash is the surprising part. It didn’t take long for people to sour on most things Star Wars since the Mouse bought out George. After all, people eventually soured on The Force Awakens. It didn’t take long for people to turn on The Last Jedi. The latter movie seemed to taint Solo. Fans didn’t give Resistance a chance.

The fact that we’ve got a near consensus positive attitude to The Mandalorian after a couple of episodes is a pretty big deal. After the most recent episode, it sure seams like everyone is on board with Star Wars’ first foray into live-action TV.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 1 Review

Back in 2005, George Lucas floated the idea that Star Wars would be coming to TV as a live-action series. Production on Revenge of the Sith was wrapping up and during his Star Wars Celebration III appearance, George talked about a TV series being part of the future of Star Wars. Over the next years, that idea became Star Wars: Underworld but never actually saw the light of day. Despite having over 50 scripts written, Lucas said that it would have cost too much to produce so the project was shelved by 2010.

Over the last decade, TV production has changed. TV show productions rival movies in terms of budget and quality. With the Disney purchase of LucasFilm and looking to make a splash for the launch of their Disney+ streaming service, Star Wars was chosen as the flagship franchise to lead Disney into the online age. And that brings us to The Mandalorian, a story of a Mandalorian bounty hunter who takes on a lucrative but dangerous job….

YouTube Terms of Service Update Has Content Creators Concerned

Every so often, something happens over at YouTube that has content creators worried that the end is nigh for them and/or the website that hosts their content. So far, YouTube has come out mostly unscathed while YouTubers have found alternate ways of making a living creating online video content. Between the “adpocalypse,” copyright claim abuses, concerns over the application of community guidelines for monetization and ongoing changes to the YouTube discoverability algorithm, it’s seldom smooth sailing for your favourite YouTuber.

The latest changes to YouTube’s Terms of Service is doing nothing to allay those concerns as two lines are getting YouTubers concerned for their future… again.

China to Limit Online Gaming Time for Minors

The biggest gaming market in the world is making changes that will limit the length of time and amount of money that minors can spend on their favourite online games. China announced new guidelines that they believe will “[protect] the physical and mental health of minors.”
