YouTube Terms of Service Update Has Content Creators Concerned
Every so often, something happens over at YouTube that has content creators worried that the end is nigh for them and/or the website that hosts their content. So far, YouTube has come out mostly unscathed while YouTubers have found alternate ways of making a living creating online video content. Between the “adpocalypse,” copyright claim abuses, concerns over the application of community guidelines for monetization and ongoing changes to the YouTube discoverability algorithm, it’s seldom smooth sailing for your favourite YouTuber.
The latest changes to YouTube’s Terms of Service is doing nothing to allay those concerns as two lines are getting YouTubers concerned for their future… again.

Apple Unveils New iPhone 7, Aggravates Headphone Users
Even if you don’t know what day it is, there are some events that let you know which month it is. Christmas will always be in December. Canada Day and Independence Day are always in July. And new iPhone reveal day is a hallmark of September. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were unveiled, though likely to pre-event fanfare than the PlayStation Meeting also held on Wednesday. As seems to be the case with Apple, they’re bringing a few features that were formerly Android phone exclusive to the iPhone with a new one that might have people up in arms.

Everything That’s Wrong with YouTube According to GradeAUnderA (Part 2)
Two weeks ago, YouTuber GradeAUnderA took a look at everything that is wrong with YouTube starting with the site’s lax attitude towards actually enforcing copyright laws, fair use and its own community guidelines. This week, GradeAUnderA looks at the other six YouTube community guidelines that YouTube purports to enforce but doesn’t seem to unless it’s against a channel trying to produce quality content.

Everything That’s Wrong with YouTube According to GradeAUnderA
In the wake of the Fine Bros disaster, a video by YouTuber GradeAUnderA is making the rounds on Twitter and Reddit. It takes a look at the broken copyright protection system in place on YouTube and how that’s impacting business on YouTube. I mention the Fine Bros at the start because a good portion of GradeA’s video is about how many reaction videos (with the noted exception of The Fine Bros) violate YouTube’s community guidelines and copyright law with their videos for their own financial gain at the expense of those who created the videos being reacted to.

The Fine Brothers React to Backlash, Rescind Trademarks and Discontinue React World
The reaction was pretty entertaining to follow but the reaction to the reaction means that the internet will have a happy ending. After enormous public backlash and pressure following the announcement of React World and the discovery of numerous trademarks, The Fine Bros and Fine Bros Entertainment announced that they would be rescinding their trademarks and cancelling React World.

The Internet Reacts Badly to The Fine Bros Licensing React Videos
They pitched it to the world as if they were doing this great service to their fans and YouTube creators alike. When YouTube mega stars The Fine Bros announced the creation of “React World” to allow users to license their format for a share of the revenue the video generates, it turned out that almost no one agreed with their self-assessment.
Over the last week, the Fine Bros and their team have been in complete damage control mode as they try to quell the internet uproar over the brotherly duo and their company trademarking “react” and apparently claiming ownership of reaction videos on YouTube.

Bob Ross is Coming Back to Twitch Every Monday
Nobody likes Mondays but Twitch now has the perfect way for you to get over your weekly case of the Mondays. Twitch has announced that following the massive and unexpected popularity and success of the Bob Ross The Joy of Painting marathon, Monday nights on Twitch will be Bob Ross nights. For six-and-a-half hours every Monday, Twitch will stream a season of The Joy of Painting and let Twitch chat have its fun alongside.

I think I’ve seen the internet and various mammoth sites around compared to just about everything possible. Well, that was until today when someone on Reddit posted a little infographic that compared to superheroes. Not only are they being compared to superheroes but DC Comics superheroes. That sounds like my sort of infographic.

Formula E Long Beach ePrix: Like Father, Like Son
The following post was originally written for The Lowdown and is geared towards a motorsport audience. Most of the analysis is written for that audience rather than a tech crowd so it may not necessarily be for you. That being said, an all-electric motorsports world championship is kind of a big deal so we’re continuing our coverage of Formula E.
There are a lot of stories that you can write about Formula E drivers without having seen them actually turn a wheel in anger. You can talk about the redemption of former F1 drivers like Lucas di Grassi and Sebastian Buemi. There’s the retirement tour aspect with elder statesmen Nick Heidfeld, Jarno Trulli and Stephane Sarrazin in the field. And there’s the family legacy stories with Nicolas Prost, Bruno Senna and Nelson Piquet Jr. running Formula E.
It’s the latter of which who starred in Long Beach for the first electric race on the famous street course. Thirty-five years ago, Nelson Piquet won his first Formula One Grand Prix at Long Beach. This weekend, Nelson Piquet Jr. won his first Formula E ePrix by dominating the race at Long Beach.
