Crash Bandicoot’s First New Game in Over a Decade May Be Coming Soon

While the rumours and confirmation of a new Half-Life game coming out of Valve has been getting all the headlines, another seemingly long-dead franchise is getting a revival. After getting a shot in the arm from a pair of re-releases, Crash Bandicoot will be getting its first new console game since 2008’s Mind Over Mutant with the rumoured release of Crash Bandicoot Worlds.

PlayStation 4 Pro Trailer Roundup

It wouldn’t be a big PlayStation conference without some teaser videos to show off the power of their upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro. While games weren’t a big part of yesterday’s PlayStation Meeting, there were a few videos to show off the power of the PS4 Pro and HDR. It’s probably a good idea to crank up the resolution for these videos too.

Sony to Launch PlayStation 4 Slim Alongside PS4 Neo

sony-playstation-4-slim-leakSony will be unveiling not one but two new PlayStation 4 consoles at the upcoming PlayStation event on September 7th. While it has been long expected that Sony would unveil an upgraded PlayStation 4, codenamed Neo and colloquially referred to as the 4K, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sony will be launching a previously unannounced smaller version of the PS4 at the same event.

E3 2016: PlayStation Trailer Roundup

Unlike the other E3 press events, the folks over at Sony just ran trailer after trailer as their press briefing and left talking to a minimum. The longest spell of talking was when Shawn Layden unveiled the launch date and price for PlayStation VR ($399 USD and October 13th). That doesn’t take away from the beautiful, heart-felt speech of Shawn’s about the Orlando shooting. The vast majority of the conference was games with the trademark plethora of surprises that we’ve come to expect from Sony.

E3 2016 Preview: What Surprises Are In Store From Sony?

playstation-banner-e3-2016The pre-E3 press conferences will wrap up with Sony’s annual event. They tend to go very big with their E3 presentations and this year looks like it will be no exception. While the PS4K/Neo won’t be at E3, their E3 presser will have a lot of big games announced and updated from both first and third-party developers. Given last year’s big announcement, this year has a lot to live up to and just might pull it off.

E3 2015: Best and Worst of E3

e3-2015-bannerIt’s probably ever so slightly late for us to have a best and worst or winners and losers of E3 post but it’s my hobbie so I’m going to do it a bit late to be of much use to anyone. Well, that’s not strictly true. The shortest wait until a major game from E3 comes out is some three months so that means that there is plenty of time for us to reflect on the state of gaming in the wake of the biggest games industry show of 2015.

E3 2015: PlayStation Trailer Roundup

playstation-e3-2015-bannerThe last of Monday’s press conferences was Sony’s keynote for the PlayStation 4. Okay, there was a couple of token mentions of the Vita but Sony at E3 is all about the PS4. While Sony didn’t have a big backward compatibility announcement like Microsoft did, they might have been able to steal the show with some big announcements like the latest from Media Molecule, Guerilla Games, and Square Enix. One of those latest from Square Enix was an internet-breaking reveal of a full modern remake of Final Fantasy VII.

Sony Looking to PlayStation to Shore Up Finances

sony-logoOver the last few years, quarterly financial results time hasn’t been Sony’s friend. The company has been hurting on the income statement and balance sheet thanks to underperformance from their TV and mobile device divisions. However, they have been buoyed by the sales success of the PlayStation 4.

Now, Sony is trying to turn back towards profitability and is putting the PS4 at the forefront of their plan.

Sony Announces PS4 Firmware 2.0 Which Includes Long-Awaited Share Play

ps4-share-buttonBack when the social features of the PlayStation 4 were first announced, one feature that caught a bit of heat from the core gamers was the ability for a friend to step into your game and take over for you. The idea is that if you were having trouble with a section of the game, you could ask a friend to play (or watch) to help you out.

While I thought that the PS4 launched with that feature, a quick perusal of the internet suggests that it wasn’t and still isn’t part of the PS4’s offerings. That will change shortly as Sony is soon to launch a virtual couch co-op feature called Share Play.
