Robert Downey Jr. Signs on for Captain America 3
Remember those short-lived rumours that Robert Downey Jr. wanted to leave the Marvel film universe so he could work on other projects? They didn’t seem to last long did they?
If you’re a fan of RDJ as Tony Stark / Iron Man, he won’t be leaving any time soon. Downey has signed up for two more Marvel films after his current deal which runs through Avengers: Age of Ultron. He’ll be back for The Avengers 3 and get a big role in Captain America 3.
Haven: The Old Switcheroo Part 1 Review
What happens when you write an episode that, at first glance, is a way for all of the actors to blow off a little steam while spending their spring and summer in rural Nova Scotia? It turns out that not only is it a good bit of fun for everyone, actors and viewers alike, it gives the writers a chance to explore the various relationships between the characters from a different perspective.
Doctor Who: Mummy on the Orient Express Review
If you’re The Doctor, there’s no such thing as a quiet vacation. You can’t just TARDIS into a quiet little corner of time and space to relax. Something always goes wrong. Often it’s homicidal robots. Sometimes, it’s homicidal aliens. This time, it was a homicidal mummy that could only be seen by the intended victim. For not getting any time to relax, The Doctor doesn’t look too bad for 2,000 years old.
Twin Peaks Returns in 2016
Oh mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey. A kiddley divey too, wouldn’t you? Put on a pot of damn good coffee and slice some cherry pie. David Lynch and Mark Frost are teaming up to bring back the iconic cult hit supernatural murder mystery Twin Peaks for a nine episode third season to air on Showtime in 2016.
Haven: Much Ado About Mara Review
Not to start all of my reviews this week with a question but how do you follow-up on an episode where nothing happens and all your protagonists are spinning their wheels? You make everything happen this week and start pushing this season forward. Sure, it hits reset on a couple of characters but it’s for the best.
This week, The Guard have Mara and it looks like Dwight is about to assume the throne of this season’s Big Bad much like Jordan did last season. Fortunately, that was a red herring and the season is progressing along its logical path.
Doctor Who: Kill the Moon Review
What happens when you take the training wheels off your bike? You either fall over and land on your head or you ride straight and true.
That was the question on Doctor Who this week. Though it feels like a question that has been asked time and time again, the question was asked again of Clara. Unlike every other time that Clara might have been left to ride on her own, this was the first time that she pushed back.
The Visual History of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Infographic)
I think I mentioned this before but I was pretty big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was growing up. I was never into the original TMNT comics but I do remember reading a few of the comics in the early 90s. While those two were pretty close visually but they were very different from the live-action Ninja Turtles movies of the early 90s. Since then, TMNT has kept going and 2014 marks 30 years of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
To mark that occasion, the folks at Buy Costumes have put together a look at the changing visuals of the Ninja Turtles over the last 30 years.
Hollywood is Working on a Tetris Movie for Some Reason
Turning video games into movies is pretty common place nowadays. There was a Need For Speed movie earlier this year. Resident Evil has a rather lengthy and successful enough film franchise. Ubisoft is trying to make movies out of all of its big franchises starting with 2012’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. There are movies for World of Warcraft, Uncharted and Gran Turismo in the works.
However, the latest video game adaptation is likely to leave you scratching your head. Threshold Entertainment has plans to turn Tetris into the next video game to hit the silver screen.
Haven: Spotlight Review
Mara might have taken over Audrey’s body and be randomly murdering people about town but that doesn’t mean that Nathan is giving up on Audrey. While the rest of Haven has given up hope of getting Audrey back, brief glimpses of Audrey still being in there seems to be the only thing keeping him going.
This week, the battle lines are drawn. It’s Nathan against the rest of Haven as he tries to get Audrey back.
Doctor Who: The Caretaker Review
One thing that tends to happen when you tag along with The Doctor on the TARDIS is that you leave your real-life behind for a few months or years. That’s not the case if you’re Clara Oswald. Though she’s done many, many things while a travelling companion on the TARDIS, the one thing she hasn’t done is pack her things and move in.
This week, we finally gotten some semblance of payoff to Clara’s dueling lives as The Doctor becomes The Caretaker (who likes to be called The Doctor) at Clara’s school. Now she has to juggle maintaining her sanity while her personal life and time traveler life collide.
