What happens when Canada’s greatest RPG developers sell out to America’s video game devil? You get the makings of an honest trailer for Mass Effect. If you’re a fan of Mass Effect, you can probably guess all the jokes that are made before you hear them but it doesn’t make this honest trailer any less awesome.

Blizzard Raising UK World of Warcraft Subscriptions by £1
If you’re Blizzard and you’re hemorrhaging subscribers to your flagship game ahead of a hotly anticipated expansion pack, how do you make the money work? If the plan being implemented in the UK is any indication, it looks like you raise the prices.
Blizzard has announced that the monthly subscription prices for World of Warcraft gamers in the UK will increase by £1 per month.
Game Trailers Roundup for August 18, 2014
Another week, another set of game trailers to get you hyped. Because we just wrapped up Gamescom, there are a lot of trailers for us to go through today.
Both Destiny and Star Citizen pulled out all the stops with multiple trailers released over the course of Gamescom week. EA kept busy with some reveals and trailers, a few of which we’ve already covered and a couple of which we have below. If you’ve fallen behind on trailers to watch over the last week, there’s quite a bit for you to catch up on.
More Gameplay Videos from Gamescom 2014
When I posted the roundup of gameplay footage from Gamescom, I thought that would cover all the gameplay reveals and demos at this year’s edition of Gamescom. I was slightly wrong.
Over the course of the weekend, we got plenty more hands-on demonstrations of some of this fall’s biggest games. If you’re looking forward to triple-A games like The Witcher 3, Far Cry 4 and LittleBigPlanet 3, this second roundup of gameplay footage from Gamescom has you covered. There are a few horror games thrown in as an added bonus if that’s your speed. Definitely not mine but I get the feeling some of you would enjoy a quick laugh if I was to let’s play or stream me playing one.

Gamescom 2014 Gameplay Videos Roundup
As I mentioned in the last post, I thought I’d follow up on the news from Gamescom with video of the games of Gamescom. After all, it’s one thing to tell you about the games and gameplay that on display but it’s a far different thing to show you the vertical slices of gameplay that the developers worked hard on for the convention.
And even though Sega has filed for a settlement in the lawsuit, I’m still going to make the easy Aliens: Colonial Marines joke. Conveniently enough, we also have a gameplay demo for Alien: Isolation among other anticipated triple-A releases.
Gamescom 2014 News Roundup
Normally, the summer would be quiet enough for me to be able to post all sorts of news from Gamescom. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way for me so I have to do the big Gamescom news in a few posts. Today, we have news and gameplay videos while all of the Gamescom trailers will be in Monday’s Game Trailers Roundup.
For now, we have four of the more interesting stories that I’ve read from Gamescom. While only one is a game announcement, we have some business of gaming-esque news that’ll probably just make you hate Ubisoft more.
eSports Weekend Calendar: August 15 – 17, 2014
This weekend’s eSports calendar is all about Gamescom. Europe’s biggest gaming convention has events for Battlefield 4, Call of Duty, Guild Wars 2, Halo and more. The centrepiece of festivities is the ESL Tournament for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The second in the ESL One line of tournament, ESL One: Cologne features a $250,000 CSGO tournament. ESL also just announced a Dota 2 ESL One tournament for Madison Square Garden later this year. I think that ESL One might quickly become a bigger deal than ESL’s IEM series.
Elsewhere, the EU LCS summer split comes to an end with the final four doing battle at Gamescom. OGN also wraps up its summer season this weekend. There’s also some SC2 and Dota 2 on the calendar this weekend.
Sega Agrees to $1.25 Million Settlement in Aliens: Colonial Marines Lawsuit
It’s not been a couple of weeks since Gearbox filed to get out of the Aliens: Colonial Marines lawsuit and tried to leave all the blame at the feet of Sega that the game’s publisher is trying to settle their way out of the suit. Sega was filed a motion for approval of a settlement agreement that will see them pay out $1.25 million.
