When it comes to fan-made trailers, there is no one better than Luke Ritson. Back in August, we featured his take on a BioShock Infinite trailer. This time out, he has a trailer for Grand Theft Auto V that focuses on all three of the game’s playable characters and The Boss added in for good measure. Seriously, someone get this guy a job.

LucasArts Cancelled a Darth Maul Game in 2011 After Eight Months in Development
One of the many characters that got a bit overlooked in the films and rose to life as a fan favourite game and with some new adventures in the Expanded Universe was Darth Maul. He was so popular that he was retconned out of death and into the Clone Wars animated series by the end of its run.
However, that wasn’t always the plan. A report in Game Informer says that LucasArts originally planned to make a game starring Darth Maul before it was cancelled by LucasArts while it was in the middle of development.

Hotline Miami 2 Brings the Blood in its New Trailer
One of games on my list of the most anticipated games of 2014 has a new trailer. As you would expect, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is going to bring pain and blood and violence in copious amounts and the first gameplay trailer for HM2 is no different.
The most interesting thing from it is some of the special abilities that the characters seem to have. One can dodge. Another has a dodge move to keep you from being turned into Sonny Corleone. And the other is actually synchronized twins. Hopefully you can choose your character in each mission to help mix things up and add some replayability to the game.

GameSpy Multiplayer Shutting Down in May
If you were a gamer in the 2000s, chances are that the most precious login you had wasn’t your Steam ID or your favourite forums but your GameSpy login. Now, with the rise of Steam, Origin, Uplay and all sorts of other server setups for online gaming, new games with GameSpy multiplayer are non-existent.
However, for people who still pick up older games every now and then and play a few pick-up multiplayer games, that may change in less than two months. GameSpy multiplayer servers will be shutting down on May 31st.

Amy Hennig Joins Visceral Games as Star Wars Creative Director
When you’re talented, people are going to want you. Just look at former Naughty Dog superstar Amy Hennig. The former creative director on the Uncharted franchise has moved from a game inspired by a LucasFilm franchise to working on a game that is a LucasFilm franchise. She’s turned to the dark side and joined EA’s Visceral Games to head up their upcoming Star Wars game.

Phil Spencer Takes Over as Xbox Boss
How busy was I last week? I completely missed that Microsoft announced that long-time Microsoft Studios boss, Phil Spencer, got a promotion. The company announced that he would be taking on a newly created role as the head of the Xbox and gaming division of Microsoft.

The Australian Government is Changing How They Rate Games
The Australian Classification Board’s game ratings have become something of a running joke in the gaming news media but the country is taking steps to simplify the ratings process for developers. The Australian Federal Government is currently going through the process of legislating into law changes to the ratings approach by the Classification Board.

Blizzard Wins April Fools’ Day with a Pair of Pranks
Some companies do April 1st better than others. The one publisher that might just be the best at it is Blizzard. They used April Fools’ Day to have a little fun at their expense while poking fun at free-to-play games. Who says that April Fools’ jokes can’t be used for good.

The GOATY is Here! Goat Simulator Launches Today
The most anticipated game of 2014 is out today. Goat Simulator, a developer-described “small, broken and stupid game,” is out on Steam, appropriately, on April Fools’ Day. If you pre-ordered the game (like me), you’ve already been playing since Saturday but now’s the chance for everyone else to get in on the goat fun.
To mark the launch, Coffee Stain Studios did the only appropriate thing and made their launch trailer a parody of the Dead Island trailer.
