E3 2014: PlayStation Press Conference Trailer Roundup

Now that we’ve told you about the PlayStation press conference that closed out Monday’s festivities at E3, it’s time to show you some of what Sony had on offer at their big E3 show.

For the most part, I’ve stuck to the big titles that were exhibited by Sony Computer Entertainment but I couldn’t resist giving you a look at No Man’s Sky and Entwined because they both looked fantastic. Of course, so did LPB3 and Uncharted 4 but that was for very different reasons.

Luke Ritson is Back with an Epic GTA5 Trailer

When it comes to fan-made trailers, there is no one better than Luke Ritson. Back in August, we featured his take on a  BioShock Infinite trailer. This time out, he has a trailer for Grand Theft Auto V that focuses on all three of the game’s playable characters and The Boss added in for good measure. Seriously, someone get this guy a job.

Rockstar Games to be Award a BAFTA Fellowship

grand-theft-auto-v-headerWhile Geoff Keighley likes to consider VGX (né the Spike TV Video Game Awards) the Oscars of the video game industry, they’re regarded as nearly the farthest thing from. The properly prestigious video game awards are the BAFTAs awarded by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, or their equivalent to the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences.

At this year’s BAFTA game awards, Rockstar Games will be given the highest honour of the BAFTAs by being awarded a BAFTA Fellowship.

7 Best Games of the 7th Generation: Grand Theft Auto V

grand-theft-auto-v-headerI don’t think that I could do a list of the seven best games of the seventh console generation without including one game from this year. While a lot of our attention this year has been on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, 2013 has been a spectacular year for games. Any one of a few games are more than worthy of inclusion on this list.

From the class of 2013, the best swansong for the now last generation of consoles has to be Grand Theft Auto V.

Lindsay Lohan Suing Rockstar over GTA5

grand-theft-auto-v-wallpaper-01There aren’t too many lawsuits in the gaming industry but this one is certainly going to get a bit of attention. Actress Lindsay Lohan is planning to sue Rockstar Games over using her likeness in Grand Theft Auto V and reports indicate the plan is to ask for a lot of money.

Crime Does Pay: The Real-World Price of Homes in GTA5

So Trevor’s trailer out in the desert away from Los Santos isn’t exactly the sort of place that you would show off but Michael and Franklin sure live in some pretty nice homes in Los Santos.

As anyone who games knows, the economics of a game is very different from the economics of real life. So how much would buying a house like the one’s featured in Grand Theft Auto V cost you? Our friends at Movato did some valuation work and came up with the multi-million dollar answer.

GTA V Never Looked Better than in This Timelapse Video

It may be running on well-worn seven-year-old hardware but Rockstar Games managed to squeeze every last ounce of power out of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for Grand Theft Auto V. As this timelapse video by The Despicable Channel shows, the graphics might still be a bit rough around the edges but it’s still a gorgeous experience.

How Much Can You Carry in a Game?

Have you ever wondered what the total weight of items your character can carry is? Sure, you’re limited to a number of slots in your inventory but carrying 25 items isn’t necessarily representative of how much your character is actually carrying. The gang at Vsauce have done some math to determine how much you can haul around in Grand Theft Auto V and Minecraft. After watching this, I kind of wonder if we can really claim that games are more realistic.

Building (Critical) Consensus: Grand Theft Auto V

grand-theft-auto-v-box-artI don’t know if you heard but there’s a game coming out today. Not at all important. Nobody is really interested in it. But I suppose there’s probably one, just one, reader of this blog who might be interested in reading more about Grand Theft Auto V. Let’s be honest, though. I think that the smallest of minorities are actually waiting on reviews to determine whether or not they buy this game. Me? I’m waiting for the PC release. I’d reckon that it’ll be out around the time the next-gen editions of GTA5 are out.

As expected, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive but we don’t expect anything less for Rockstar’s flagship franchise. In fact, as of writing, only The Escapist had a review lower than 90%. While they loved the gameplay, they had major issues with the three main characters and the script. GameSpot had similar script issues but still gave the game a 90%. Before you start spamming the reviewers, remember that reviews are subjective. Here we have two people with the same issues and very different scores. As long as they’re legitimately reviewing a game and not trolling for page views, their opinion is entirely fair. Like I said at the top, if you have issues with GTA’s content, you’ve already decided not to buy the game.

West Coast Customs Builds GTA’s Banshee

gta5-wcc-banshee-headerIn the Grand Theft Auto games, the Banshee has a reputation for being one of the fastest cars in the game. It was only fitting considering that the two design templates used for the car since GTA3 were the Chevrolet Corvette and Dodge Viper.

Now, it’s not just a hot car circulating through the likes of Liberty City, Vice City and Los Santos. It can now be found on real streets after a one-off custom Banshee was built by famous car customizing shop West Coast Customs.
