How to Find Your Perfect Game (Infographic)

If you frequently visit us here at etg, you know we’re definitely fans of two things: Video games and cool infographics. So how about we combine the two? We found this rather extensive flow chart of an infographic that asks you a few questions and pumps out the perfect game for you to play. I tried it and it gave me Knights of the Old Republic. I’d say that it does an okay job of things.

Wolfenstein Gets “Reimagined” Because We’re Short on New IP

wolfenstein-the-new-order-wallpaper-01Sorry, that title isn’t too cynical, is it? I’m just getting a little tired of sequels and reboots. If you ask me why I’m intrigued by Remember Me, even though it’s being published by Capcom, it’s because it’s a brand new IP and we just aren’t getting very many solid new games. We’re getting a lot of sequels and reboots but brand new IPs are in short supply.

And that brings me to the recently announced “Wolfenstein: The New Order.” Bethesda announced it by touting it as a “reimagining” of the iconic FPS franchise that has been with us for over 30 years since the original Castle Wolfenstein.

Comic Book Pull List for May 8, 2013

x-01I’m a bit ashamed to admit that I missed Free Comic Book day this weekend. I was a bit busy with things around the house. Some of that will be revealed in the near future by which I mean hopefully by the end of the month.

In the meantime, here are my picks for the week. Dark Horse brings back X for a miniseries. The masked vigilante had a 25 issue run back in the mid-90s and gets a four issue run over the summer. The Justice League of America is back this month with Justice League of America #3. Apparently, we’re getting another JLA in two weeks and one each in June and July. Plan your buying accordingly. And to mix things up with my last pick, go grab a copy of Deadpool #9. Why not? It’s Deadpool.

Protect Yourself from the Space Zombie Apocalypse with Your Own Plasma Cutter

In addition to the unique necromorph killing mechanics of the Dead Space franchise, the games introduced some pretty unique weapons. The most iconic of these weapons is the plasma cutter, a mining tool that just happens to be very effective at dismembering the pesky space zombies.

Well, laser gadget aficionado Patrick Priebe has constructed his own plasma cutter for fun and use in any future zombie apocalypses. It pivots. It fires lasers. Short of taking the scythe-like arm off of a necromorph, it looks like the real deal.

EA Gets the Star Wars Games Licence, Fans Worry

ea-star-wars-logo“I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi

When they closed LucasArts, Disney said that they would license out Star Wars to other developers to make games. Well, they’ve gone ahead with that plan just one month after closing down LucasFilm’s in-house game developer and publisher.

Yesterday, Disney announced that EA was awarded a “multi-year exclusive licensing agreement” to develop and publish Star Wars games.

Phil Fish was Right. PCs are for Spreadsheets.

Remember when Phil Fish said that PCs are for spreadsheets? Now that Fez has a PC port, Steam user McKack put a new spin of Fish’s infamous comments with some spreadsheet-based fan art. I love it. The fan art’s pretty good too.

Doctor Who: The Crimson Horror Review

doctor-who-the-crimson-horror-posterThis week’s episode of Doctor Who was the 100th since the show’s return in 2005. While most series would celebrate that milestone, the BBC and Doctor Who boss Steven Moffat let this one pass without much fanfare. Makes sense seeing as there’s a big 50th anniversary special coming in November.

That doesn’t mean that we didn’t get a special episode of Doctor Who, even if it wasn’t billed as such. What we got was, slightly ironically, an episode that started Doctor-lite but still ended up being the best of the Clara episodes since Jenna-Louise Coleman joined the series full-time.
