This Fan-Made Intro is the Basis of the New Doctor Who Title Sequence

You might not know the name Billy Hanshaw but you’re going to know his handy work very soon. Hanshaw created his own mockup of a new title sequence for Doctor Who’s 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi. The result went viral and got so much attention that Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat saw it and commissioned the BBC graphics department to use it as a basis for the title sequence that you’ll see tomorrow.

Dominik Omega Raps Game of Thrones

If you listened to Catch The Throne, HBO’s Game of Thrones inspired album, you might remember that one track that was a rap about Arya. That was by Dominik Omega. He might not be the biggest emcee in the world but he’s an avid book reader, not just a show watcher, and can drop some sick rhymes about the books and its characters.

Since I’m fond of a little music on a Friday afternoon, here’s both of Dominik Omega’s raps about Game of Thrones for Friday of Thrones.

Game of Bloopers

While the folks behind Game of Thrones produce a lot of little featurettes that end up on YouTube and as extras on the Blu-Ray releases, I don’t think they’ve ever done a blooper reel. In addition to the Q&A with fans and preview of the new cast members added for Season Five, the Game of Thrones panel at Comic Con included a short blooper reel from Season Four. I think that’s a pretty good video for Friday of Ice and Fire.

Get Your First Look at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

As you’d expect, Warner Bros. and DC gave us a little treat from the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at their Comic Con panel. In addition to showing a short clip and parading the principal heroes out on stage, we also got our first look at Gal Gadot in her Wonder Woman armour.

Good news! All your worst fears about Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman have been confirmed!

Last Friday Night on Star Trek

Apparently this video is three years old but it’s new to me so it goes up on the blog. I can’t say that I’m a fan of Katy Perry’s music but I am a fan of classic Star Trek so I find it absolutely hilarious that ST:TOS makes for an absolutely perfect music video for Last Friday Night. Maybe I like it because it’s a three-minute tribute to all of Bill Shatner’s hammy acting.

Naughty Dog Announces The Last of Us Movie and Uncharted Release Date

uncharted-movie-release-dateIt may not have a script or cast and may be on its third director but that doesn’t mean that Sony Pictures isn’t charging ahead with the movie adaptation of Sony Computer Entertainment’s flagship Uncharted franchise. At Comic Con last weekend, Sony announced the latest plans for Naughty Dog on the big screen which includes an adaptation of The Last of Us.

Jon Snow Knows Nothing

Who would have thought that “You know nothing, Jon Snow,” would quickly become Game of Thrones’ most quotable line? Personally, I prefer quoting Bronn but that’s because I don’t have any more honour than your typical sellsword. Anyway, Ygritte’s famous quip might be the show’s most popular line but it might also be its most true line.

For today’s Friday of Ice and Fire, we have a supercut of Jon Snow knowing nothing.

The Special Effects of Game of Thrones

If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones, you already know that it’s the most expensive show on television. Of course, the fact that it’s one of the most watched and most critically acclaimed shows on television probably makes it worth the investment for HBO. Obviously, the majority of the money goes to the special effect department who do a fantastic job but have you ever wondered how much work they actually have to do to recreate the Seven Kingdoms for TV?

For today’s Friday of Ice and Fire, let’s take a look at what goes into making Game of Thrones come to life on HBO.

Frozen Mashed Up with Game of Thrones

I’ve never watched Frozen but if it’s anything like this mashup trailer that combines scenes from Frozen with Game of Thrones, I may have to watch this one. Frozen just so happens to mashup absolutely perfectly with Game of Thrones. I know that the classic Disney movies were done so that all ages could enjoy them but I’m not sure this is quite what Walt had in mind.

Oh, and Season Four spoilers.

Six Seasons and Where’s My Movie? Yahoo Revives Community

community-yahoo-headerJust when we thought that we were in the darkest timeline, Yahoo, of all companies, grabbed the die from mid-air and saved Community from cancellation. The former search engine turned web conglomerate is getting into the original programming business and is leading off with a 13-episode sixth season of the cult hit sitcom.
