Formula E Miami ePrix: The Heat of the Urban Jungle

That being said, an all-electric motorsports world championship is kind of a big deal so we’re continuing our coverage of Formula E.
After two months off, the most electrifying electric motorsports series in the world was back in action last weekend. Following the two-round stint in South America, it was the first of two rounds in the United States of America as the teams took to the streets of Miami for the fifth round of the championship. While there was some hot weather, the hot action was left to late in the day when Nicolas Prost made a pass in the dying laps to score his first Formula E win.

Formula E Buenos Aires ePrix: A Race No One Wants to Win

When Formula E was announced and the race format detailed, everyone thought that the series’ biggest challenge would be the battery life of the cars. After the championship’s fourth round in Buenos Aires, it looks like the longevity of the suspensions will be the biggest curveball thrown at teams and drivers.
What started as a fairly straight forward race quite quickly degenerated into chaos when the safety car came out after the race’s first suspension failure. After that point, there were four leaders who ascended to the top in a cloud of debris with the final one being Antonio Felix da Costa who scored his first Formula E race win.

Formula E Punta del Este ePrix: Survive, If You Can

That being said, an all-electric motorsports world championship is kind of a big deal so we’re continuing our coverage of Formula E.
Say what you will about all-electric racing technology that’s been rushed to the race track, spec cars, one-day race weekends and cramped little street circuits, Formula E knows how to put on a show. Once again, Formula E showed that you don’t need 700 horsepower to put on a show. All you need is low downforce and drivers willing to fight for position.
In a race that saw the safety car make its way onto the circuit four times for various incidents, it was Sebastian Buemi who survived the crashes and mechanical troubles that plagued the field to win his first Formula E race.

Windows 10 to Include Xbox App and Cortana Integration
In the gaming sector, Microsoft is often criticized for seemingly being opposed to cross-platform play opportunities. For those outside the gaming space, Microsoft isn’t open to Xbox console gamers playing with those on the likes of PC and PlayStation at the same time. A leak from a technical preview of Windows 10 shows that Microsoft might be willing to integrate a little more cross-platform functionality.

Formula E Putrajaya ePrix: #SamBoost
The following post was originally written for The Lowdown and is geared towards a motorsport audience. Most of the analysis is gear toward that audience rather than a tech crowd. Since I think that a major all-electric motorsports championship is kind of a big deal in the tech world and because this was a really good race, I thought we should continue covering Formula E with a look at the second ePrix.
For the second time, the FIA’s new green motorsport took to the streets in an attempt to show that motorsport doesn’t have to be all loud noises and high-octane to be a spectacle.
After a so-so first outing that was only highlighted by a massive accident in the final turn, Formula E returned with a trip to the streets of Putrajaya, Malaysia, that saw battles throughout the field. Well, except at the front where Sam Bird absolutely dominated the day’s running to win his first ePrix.

Netflix Adding 4K Streaming for an Extra $3 per Month
Netflix is looking to expand their 4K viewing offerings but it’s not going to come solely out of their own pockets. After launching the most recent season of House of Cards in 4K, Netflix will now be charging a premium to access 4K content. The popular TV and movie streaming site will now require a $11.99 premium subscription.

You may have forgotten since the purchase was twelve years ago but online auction site eBay actually owns the biggest online purchase service PayPal. Or at least as of next year, they will have owned PayPal. That’s because eBay announced plans to spin-off PayPal as its own company complete with a share flotation to make it public.

Microsoft Unveils Windows 10, Skips the Number 9
The much-anticipated (and needed) next step for Microsoft’s popular Windows operating system was unveiled yesterday. After two years of the miserable failure that is Windows 8 (and the slightly less terrible Windows 8.1), Microsoft has given up on Windows 8 and is moving on to the next iteration of Windows to be called Windows 10.

The iPhone 6 Plus Has a Bending Problem
Earlier this week, I told you not to microwave your iPhone 6. Today, I’m going to have to tell you not to put your iPhone 6 Plus in your pockets. This has nothing to do with any hoax ad. It turns out that there are multiple reports of iPhone 6 Pluses bending under sustained pressure while in someone’s pocket.

Please Don’t Microwave Your iPhone 6
Remember last year when a fake ad claimed that upgrading to iOS 7 would introduce a feature that would make your iPhone waterproof? Well, probably not because it was a 4chan hoax. Some people inexplicably fell for that and ruined their iPhones but I wouldn’t say that they didn’t have it coming out of sheer stupidity.
This year, those same folks from 4chan are back with a new fake ad that claims that an iOS 8 upgrade introduces the ability to charge your iPhone in the microwave.
