We’ve all see the famous Leeroy Jenkins video by now. If you haven’t it features one player single-handed destroying his group’s well laid out plan by going Rambo and causing total annihilation. Well, Leeroy wasn’t the first to go Leeroy. There’s a piece of Civil War era art dedicated to the attack style made famous by Leeroy.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Demo Impressions
It seems exceedingly rare that a developer or publisher releases a demo of an anticipated upcoming game. Fortunately, we got one for NetherRealms upcoming DC Comics fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. The game has been hyping the debate between comic book fans as to whether Superman or Batman would win in a fight but is there more to this game than that?
The Ecco The Dolphin Team is Back with The Big Blue
Ecco the Dolphin is considered one of the best games released for the Sega Genesis (AKA Mega Drive) and of the 16-bit era. The sequels were also well received but never seemed to have the same magic as the original. Well, thanks to Kickstarter, original Ecco designer Ed Annunziata is launching his spiritual sequel to Ecco called The Big Blue.
The Mouse Claims Another Victim: Disney Closes LucasArts
First, Disney killed Lucasfilm Animation and any of Lucasfilm’s television aspirations by effectively internally cancelling The Clone Wars and Detours. Now, the Disney bosses have killed of Lucasfilm’s legendary video game development and publishing division LucasArts.
Retro/Grade (PC) Review: Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey Insanity
What happens when you mix an arcade style shoot-’em-up with a rhythm game and then do it all backwards? You get the delightful (and difficult) Retro/Grade. Originally released as an indie game on the PlayStation 3, Retro/Grade has made the jump to PC.
Rhythm games and shoot-em-ups have been done before so the base genres are well represented in gaming. However, they’ve never been done like this.
The XCOM Shooter May Not Be Dead
A recent rumour reported by Kotaku’s anonymous rumour man, Superannuation, suggests that the originally planned reboot for XCOM may not be dead after the success of last year’s hit XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
Originally, 2K planned to reboot XCOM as a first-person shooter set in the 1960s. The game was originally set for a March 2012 release date before it was delayed into an apparent state of development hell. In the meantime, it’s thunder was stolen by Firaxis’ reboot of XCOM in the tradition turn-based tactical strategy form that we expect of XCOM.
Journey and Deus Ex Win April Fools’ Day
Among all the other April Fools’ Day pranks and jokes, games developers like to get in on the fun. The press seemed to like the Sony buys Nintendo joke. I read that a couple of times yesterday. Granted, I thought yesterday’s best April Fools’ joke was The Walking Dead’s season finale. *rimshot*
Anyway, ThatGameCompany and Eidos Montreal both had the best pranks of the day with a couple of “new game” reveals.
It’s Shatner vs. The Gorn: Round 2 for Star Trek: The Video Game
Captain James T. Kirk is back to help sell the upcoming Star Trek: The Video Game and he’s brought along an old friend. No, I’m not talking about Chris Pine’s Kirk from the rebooted Star Trek helmed by director J.J. Abrams, though that’s the time period in which the new game is set. In the latest Star Trek: The Video Game promo, William Shatner is back and battling his old nemesis, the Gorn. Sadly, no flying drop kick.
The Geth are More Popular Than the Quarians and Other Mass Effect 3 Stats
As part of their Mass Effect retrospective panel at PAX East, BioWare released an infographic detailing the decisions made by players. They didn’t reveal stats like completion rate or which ending was chosen (for obvious reasons) but they did detail the most popular classes, FemShep vs. BroShep, paragon vs. renegade, the favourite squadmates and even total single player play time across the community.
Catch ‘Em All in Pokemon Snap The Movie
Pokemon Snap always struck me as an oddity in the Pokemon gaming series. While the Game Boy games were about travelling though Kanto (and subsequently added regions), catching Pokemon and being the very best (like no one ever was), Pokemon Snap was about you as a photographer. Not quite as glamorous and exciting.
That doesn’t mean that the Snap concept is unsalvageable. The team over at GrittyReboots have given Pokemon Snap a remake for this movie trailer.
