Angry Birds Go’s Microtransactions Are Anything but Micro
I don’t talk about microtransactions in games very often because I keep hoping that they’ll go away if we just ignore them. However, sometimes, we just have to shame the developers who are making massive cash grabs with ridiculous microtransactions in their games.
The next entry into the Angry Birds franchise is kart racing game Angry Birds Go. The iOS soft launch of the game in New Zealand has revealed some shady microtransaction practices.

Snapchat Snaps Outnumber Facebook Photo Uploads
A couple of weeks back, Facebook made a $3 billion offer to purchase Snapchat. The mobile phone app’s founders/owners rejected the offer from the social media giant feeling that their service was worth more despite not having any real revenue.
Well, it turns out that Snapchat may have had a good reason for turning down Facebook. Recently released statistics show that there are more Snaps uploaded daily on Snapchat than photos uploaded on Facebook.

It’s a little known fact that I wanted to be a chef while growing up. When the Food Network first came to Canada, they had all these shows I loved. There was Good Eats and Iron Chef and especially Emeril Live. Then Food Network Canada launched and they replaced that with the charismatic black hole that was Christine Cushing and I stopped wanting to be a chef.
So I came into Cook, Serve, Delicious! hoping for something a bit more Iron Chef rather than a casual experience. You know, more El Bulli than Taco Bell. Fortunately, despite the fact that CSD is a mobile port, it’s still a hardcore experience.

Canadian Mobile Phone Companies to Provide Government Access to Data
It’s not just the NSA and the United States government that are monitoring your data. Ahead of this week’s wireless airwave license auction, the Canadian government has required all phone companies bidding to agree to allow the government access to data transmitted on their networks, including the monitoring of phone calls.

Dragon Age Gets a Free-to-Play Mobile Spin-off
There’s nothing a franchise’s fans like to hear more than free-to-play mobile game. Just ask Final Fantasy fans, especially those who actually spend money on All The Bravest.
Not one to learn what damage you can do to a franchise with a terrible F2P cash-in, EA is taking Dragon Age to mobile devices. However, rather than put DA:O on iPad like they did with KOTOR, EA is releasing a combat-based F2P Dragon Age game because we can’t learn from Square’s mistakes.

Samsung Unveils Galaxy S 4
Just when you thought that BlackBerry had gotten back in the game, Samsung officially unveiled their new flagship mobile phone for the Android platform.
The Samsung Galaxy S 4 isn’t a revolutionary new phone but it certainly is a step above the GS3. It is also, on paper, a step above the iPhone 5. You have to wonder if Apple doesn’t answer the bell with the iPhone 6 (or 5S, which ever they launch this year) if they will start to noticeably lose market share to Samsung and Android.
