Star Wars: The Force Awakens Character Posters Unveiled

We’re just six weeks away from the premiere of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. From the time this post went up to the earliest EST showings at 7:00 PM on December 17th, that’s only 1,018 hours. It’s not like I’m counting down but I’m keeping a close eye on the ever slowing movement of my clock and calendar.

Anyway, to celebrate the six weeks remaining mark, Disney has unveiled five new character posters featuring Leia, Han, Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren. All five have their right eyes covered in the posters. I wonder if that’s foreshadowing something.

Both the announcement of J.J. Abrams as director of Episode VII and the appointment of Electronic Arts as the publisher of Star Wars games were met with excitement. While EA did cause a bit of trepidation, the appointment of DICE, BioWare and Visceral, three of EA’s top guns, to develop the games got gamers excited. First up for EA and LucasFilm is DICE with their take on Battlefront. The early results aren’t exactly awe-inspiring.

The Meaning of Lightsaber Colours (Infographic)

Fans of the Star Wars movies know that there are four colours for lightsabers. The Jedi primarily use blue and green saber blades with Mace Windy rocking a purple saber. The Sith use their trademark red. If you’re fans of the Star Wars expanded universe of novels, comics and games, you could have another seven saber blade colours, each with their own meanings.

So as we continue our march to the December premiere of The Force Awakens, here’s a handy infographic that looks at the meaning of the colour of lightsabers.

The Evolution of Star Wars Prequel Costumes (Infographic)

With a new trilogy of Star Wars sequels upcoming starting this December, it’s time for us to look at the prequels! Wait… What?

The folks over at HalloweenCostumes.com are probably doing a build-up to The Force Awakens so nobody panic. Other than Revenge of the Sith and the Episode One: Racer video game, I’m not sure that anybody is going to be doing too much celebrating of the prequels. That being said, they do have a fun little look at the evolution of the costume design of the big three characters from the prequel trilogy. Even if some of the dialogue, story and CGI were shaky, the movies were certainly visual tours de force.

Star Wars Marks Eight Months to The Force Awakens with a New Trailer

I’ve never heard of Star Wars Celebration but it’s a semi-regular convention and fan event held by LucasFilm with the first three Celebrations coinciding with the release of the prequel movies. Naturally, they held one ahead of this December’s release of Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

The highlight of this year’s Star Wars Celebration was the release of the second trailer for The Force Awakens.

What if Star Wars Was a Tarantino Movie?

Who doesn’t like a good recut trailer? Here’s one that I liked that shows Star Wars (Episode IV – A New Hope for people who weren’t around for when it was only called Star Wars) cut as a Quentin Tarantino movie. A bunch of the classic Tarantino hallmarks are in there like the vintage music, a lot of violence and some sharp Han Solo dialogue. You’d almost want to watch this movie if you didn’t realize that you’ve already watched it countless times.

Disney Currently Developing Three Star Wars Spin-Offs

star-wars-logo-bannerWe knew that Disney was planning on making some “spin-off” movies to cash in on the $4 billion price tag they paid for LucasFilm. We just didn’t know what movies they would make and how many they would make.

After a stockholders call with Disney CEO Bob Iger, it looks like the answer is many and as quickly as possible. Iger revealed Disney currently has three Star Wars movies in development beyond the next trilogy and want them on-screen starting in 2016.

How Much Would Jabba’s Palace Cost? (Infographic)

With the cast of the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII revealed, I think that it’s only appropriate to run a Star Wars edition of Movoto’s fantasy real estate valuation.

While I don’t think that the next Star Wars trilogy will make a return to Jabba’s Palace, I’d bet the Lars Family Moisture Farm that there will be a return to Tatooine. And there’s no better piece of real estate on the iconic desert planet than Jabba’s Palace. Once you get the Hutt and Rancor smells out of the place, it will set you back over 72 million Galactic Credits.
