E3 2016: Pre-E3 Video Games Trailer Roundup
I know that E3 effectively got underway yesterday with the EA and Bethesda press conferences but thanks to leaks, many companies decided to get out front of E3 with announcements and trailers. Before we get to previews for today’s press conferences and recaps of yesterday’s, let’s look at the trailers that were unveiled before E3 got under way.

E3 2016 Preview: Bethesda Focuses On Seconds for Its Second E3
After a big Fallout 4 focused presentation for their inaugural E3 presentation, Bethesda will be back with even more for 2016’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. While they won’t be first out of the game with their keynote, an “honour” going to EA this year, they will certainly be swinging a big stick this year. For E3 appearance #2, Bethesda will focus on the number 2. They will have a lot of sequels that will or could have the number two in the title. By my count, they might have four games that are the second one in their respective franchises at this year’s E3 presentation.

E3 2016 Preview: What Franchises to Expect from EA
EA is changing things up with their approach to E3 in 2016. Not only will they not be on the show floor at the LA Convention Center but they’ve dropped their Monday afternoon press conference for a Sunday afternoon presser to make them the first company to make their E3 presentation. There will be a lot of pressure on them to put on a good show to start E3 off right. Fortunately for the twice Worst Company in the World, they have some big franchises with big sequels due for release this year.

Four Companies Won’t Be on the Floor at E3 2016
It used to be the most important week in gaming. Now, it looks as though it isn’t just the gamers and the press that think that the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3, has lost some of its luster. Some of the biggest names in the industry don’t see it as the be all and end all of gaming.
Over the last few months, four companies have publicly announced that they won’t have a presence on the floor of E3 this year. In January, EA announced that they wouldn’t be at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Over the last week, Activision, Disney Interactive and Wargaming all announced they wouldn’t be at the LACC either.

PSX is the Perfect Example of a Games Industry Showcase
It was around this time two years ago that I suggested that the games industry needed a second showcase event apart from E3 every June. Following another edition of The Game Awards that was more interested in the new trailers and game reveals than it was in celebrating the best in gaming during the unspecified nomination period. I was planning on leaving this alone because I don’t see The Game Awards ever being an awards show but rather being a product of hype.
Last month, I changed my mind. While it wasn’t the first time they did this, I realized that Sony might have inadvertently stumbled upon exactly what I was looking for with their second PlayStation Experience convention and industry show.

E3 2015: Best and Worst of E3
It’s probably ever so slightly late for us to have a best and worst or winners and losers of E3 post but it’s my hobbie so I’m going to do it a bit late to be of much use to anyone. Well, that’s not strictly true. The shortest wait until a major game from E3 comes out is some three months so that means that there is plenty of time for us to reflect on the state of gaming in the wake of the biggest games industry show of 2015.

E3 2015: Gameplay Videos Roundup
It’s not just new trailers that are getting shown off at E3. A lot of gameplay was shown at the various press briefings along with demonstrations for the games websites and magazines assembled in Los Angeles to look at the upcoming offerings from the games industry. Over the course of the week, we’ve covered a lot of trailers from this year’s edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo. However, we haven’t covered those trailers that weren’t revealed as part of one of the eight big press events held over the course of the week. Let’s make up with that by looking at a dozen of the trailers that you might have missed this week. There are some really big games that missed out on those big keynotes.

E3 2015: The HoloLens Shown on Stage and Might Actually Work
From a gaming perspective, the big announcement at Microsoft’s E3 press briefing was that they are bringing backwards compatibility to the Xbox One. If you were looking for the next wave in technology and just general spectacle, Microsoft stole the show with a live on-stage demonstration of their HoloLens technology while playing Minecraft.

E3 2015: Final Fantasy VII is Getting the HD Remake Treatment
When we first found out that Final Fantasy VII was coming to the PS4 as an HD remake, people were extremely disappointed. After all the hope that came with the Final Fantasy VII PS3 tech demo from 2005, people have been clamoring for a full remake of the game in the style of the Final Fantasy: Advent Children movie. Instead, December’s PlayStation Experience event showed the original Final Fantasy VII slightly cleaned up for PS4.
It’s funny what Square Enix had up their sleeve to be played six months later. Sony scored a major coup for the PlayStation press conference at E3 with the surprise reveal of a major remake of Final Fantasy VII.
