PlayStation 5 Controller Revealed in Japanese Patent

One of the forgotten storylines from the current console generation was how fondly received the PlayStation 4’s controller was relative to the PS3’s DualShock 3 and the Xbox One’s effort. Sony has a big task to follow-up on their leading console controller. To do so, they’ve decided to refine rather than revolutionize with their PlayStation 5 controller.

Kojima Has Left Konami, Starting a New Studio with Sony

hideo-kojima-headerIn the worst kept secret in gaming, Hideo Kojima’s contract with Konami has come to an end. The legendary developer had been in an ongoing dispute with Konami which saw Konami remove Kojima’s name and that of Kojima Productions from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Kojima’s apparent unemployment didn’t last long, though. Within about 24 hours of a report by Japanese business publication Nikkei stating the Kojima was no longer employed by Konami, Sony Computer Entertainment announced a partnership with a newly founded version of Kojima Productions to produce a new franchise.

The PlayStation Experience 2015 Game Trailer Roundup

playstation-experience-2015There’s not one but two video game trailer roundups today. The first one comes from this year’s PlayStation Experience event that Sony held over the weekend to celebrate all things PlayStation and generate a little bit of hype as we cross the halfway point between this year’s and next year’s E3.

The PlayStation Experience had a lot of new footage and new games unveiled at the show this year. I’m thinking that it might worth saving up for a press trip there instead of E3. Anyway, we have 18 trailers from PSX to show you including a story trailer for Uncharted 4, the first look at gameplay of the Final Fantasy VII remake and the unveiled Ni No Kuni II.

E3 2014: PlayStation Wants to be Your Shooter and Multiplayer Console

playstation-4-e3-2014-headerSome seven hours after the Xbox media briefing ended, it was Sony’s turn to try to impress gamers with their keynote to close out Monday’s E3 action. Unlike the green brand, the PlayStation crew used their 90-minute presser to mix their game previews with some new hardware and entertainment offerings. As a result, the middle of the presser dragged a little bit relative to the Xbox one but did the rest of what was shown impress more than what Microsoft had to offer.

Mass Effect Invades LittleBigPlanet

A new piece of costume DLC hits the LittleBigPlanet and it’s from a series that we quite like around here (most of the time). If you play LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet Karting (which Sony PR still owes me a copy of) and LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation Vita, you can buy a new costume set based on the Mass Effect Trilogy.

The new costumes for sackboy allow you to play as sackperson versions of Shepard, Liara, Wrex and, of course, Garrus Vakarian. The package will cost you $5.99 US or your regional equivalent.

Rumours say Sony is Dropping the DualShock Controller for the PS4

broken-ps3-controllerIt appears the folks in charge of designing Sony’s PlayStation 4 live by Red Green’s philosophy of if it ain’t broke, you’re not trying. A recent report on CVG says that Sony will radically change their traditional DualShock analog controller for one that will include a touchscreen on the front and biometric sensors built into the grips. Crash Bandicoot in Real Life

What would it look like if Crash Bandicoot platformed his way through real life. YouTube user Mat’s Films answered that question with this video that’s a great piece of nostalgia for Crash fans from the glory days under developers Naughty Dog. I wonder whatever happened to those guys.
