Is the meme dead? Not quite but it’s pretty damn close. Fans have been waiting twelve years for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or a full Half-Life 3 since the release of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 in October 2007.
It might not be Half-Life 3 Confirmed quite yet but Valve has announced what their first flagship VR game will be. It’s a return to their flagship franchise with Half-Life: Alyx.
Most companies will launch their new game engines with a quick little sizzle reel or tech demo showing off how spectacular their new engine looks and fill in devs on the back-end bells and whistles later. Well, we knew that Half-Life 3 was going to come out eventually. It really is a case of not if but when it gets officially announced and released. Based on a recently discovered European trademark application, it looks like we could be seeing some of Half-Life 3 inside the next five years.
Just when you thought that Gabe Newell and his team at Valve couldn’t count to three, a photo from a tour of Valve’s office showed that they are working on the third game in a franchise. No, it’s not Half-Life 3 (yet) but the likely to be hotly anticipated Left 4 Dead 3.
