The PlayStation Vita family of hardware is getting a bit content boost next week. Gamescom 2014 News Roundup
Normally, the summer would be quiet enough for me to be able to post all sorts of news from Gamescom. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way for me so I have to do the big Gamescom news in a few posts. Today, we have news and gameplay videos while all of the Gamescom trailers will be in Monday’s Game Trailers Roundup.
For now, we have four of the more interesting stories that I’ve read from Gamescom. While only one is a game announcement, we have some business of gaming-esque news that’ll probably just make you hate Ubisoft more.
Two More The Last of Us Leads Leave Naughty Dog
The apparent exodus of top-level talent at Naughty Dog is continuing. Having lost the creative head of Uncharted, the game director of Uncharted and the art director of The Last of Us, two more leads from The Last of Us have left Naughty Dog.
The lead game designer and narrative lead for The Last of Us have both left the employ of Sony’s flagship studio and moved onto one of Activision’s premiere studios, Infinity Ward, to start work on 2016’s Call of Duty.

Sony’s new cloud gaming service that I once called gaming’s next constructive technology is going to go public… kind of. The long-awaited open beta of PlayStation Now goes live in open beta to PlayStation 4 gamers in the US and Canada today.
The Last of Us Live Show Includes Secret Epilogue
Ahead of yesterday’s release of The Last of Us: Remastered on PlayStation 4, the folks at Naughty Dog (and marketing guru masquerading as a journalist Geoff Keighley) put together a special one night only stage performance of The Last of Us.
The live performance of scenes from the game also included a special treat at the end for those in attendance. There was a special epilogue scene that game director Neil Druckmann said was only included for the stage show and won’t be included in any release of The Last of Us going forward.
Naughty Dog Announces The Last of Us Movie and Uncharted Release Date
It may not have a script or cast and may be on its third director but that doesn’t mean that Sony Pictures isn’t charging ahead with the movie adaptation of Sony Computer Entertainment’s flagship Uncharted franchise. At Comic Con last weekend, Sony announced the latest plans for Naughty Dog on the big screen which includes an adaptation of The Last of Us.
Sony Settles for $17.75 Million in 2011 PSN Hacking Lawsuit
It’s been three years since the big PlayStation Network hacking incident that saw the PSN having to be shut down for 24 days and the personal information of 77 million users stolen. While Sony ran the Welcome Back promotion that saw users get free games and a free month of PlayStation Plus, the lawyers have decided that wasn’t enough and now Sony will be paying up to $15 million in damages as a result of the PSN hacking incident of 2011.
