PlayStation Now Coming to PS Vita and TV on October 14th
The PlayStation Vita family of hardware is getting a bit content boost next week. Alongside the October 14th launch of the PlayStation TV device that acts as an equivalent to the PlayStation Vita that you can plug into your TV, the PS Vita and PlayStation TV will get the launch of the PlayStation Now beta on those devices.
Like the PlayStation Vita, the PS TV can play PS Vita games, PSP games, PS Minis and PS One Classics. Unlike the Vita, it’s not a handheld console. It plugs into your TV through the HDMI port. It also features an ethernet port (though it has an onboard wi-fi adapter), a memory card slot and a USB port. That USB port also allows you to link the needed DualShock 3 or DualShock 4 controller so you can play the games.
Alongside the launch of the PS TV, the open PlayStation Now beta is making its way to the PlayStation Vita and TV. Sony claims that over 150 PS3 titles are available through PS Now at the moment. They also took the opportunity to note that local and online multiplayer gameplay has been enabled on PlayStation Now games with those features.
The PS TV device is launching for $99.99 (in both the US and Canada) with a deluxe bundle that includes a DualShock 3 controller and The Lego Movie: The Video Game available for $139.99.
