Haven: William Review
Haven: Crush Review
After a second consecutive episode in which everything seemed to change, this week continued our road to the season finale. While the last couple of weeks were a bit more action packed, this week’s episode slowed things down so we could focus on the relationships of the various characters. Well, mostly everyone who isn’t Audrey.
Haven: Lay Me Down Review
Last week’s episode would have been a perfect point to have a mid-season hiatus. The sixth episode of the season certainly pulled a 180 on what had been going on for the early part of the fourth season. Now that this season has kicked it into high gear, has this week’s new episode kept up the momentum or is it more of the same?
Haven: Countdown Review
Well, that escalated quickly. I was settling in for a week of Nathan being bitter that Lexi was Lexi rather than Audrey and Jordan slowly seducing Wade to get him to do her dirty work and instead the rug was pulled right out from under me. While I like surprises, I’m not exactly sold that shifting Haven from about third gear straight into seventh is a great idea.
Haven: New Girl Review
Last week on Haven, everyone was happy because Audrey was back in town. Then everyone was angry because it wasn’t Audrey but Lexi who was back in town. Now, everyone’s got a gun and is threatening to do a lot of shooting. And that doesn’t mention that someone is using mind control on some of the townsfolk. Lexi is right. Why do people still live in Haven?
Haven: Lost and Found Review
Last week on Haven, we moved one step closer to the band getting back together. This week, Audrey has to escape the Barn or disappear into the aether. Meanwhile, Nathan is dealing with missing children and Duke and Jen continue their adventures to find Audrey from their side of reality. It sets up as just another episode of Haven but those last ten minutes made the setup worth it.
Haven: Bad Blood Review
We’ve finally got some progress in Haven this week. Sure, life with Nathan might be same old, same old but the other main players saw their story progress. All it took was a cheesy horror movie monster that was neither cheesy or horrific to move things on the Duke front while Jennifer and Audrey got some properly interesting moments this week.
Haven: Survivors Review
Last week on Haven, things almost got reset to the way they were in the series premiere. Audrey was thrown into a new situation without knowing what was actually happening but it all seemed so perfectly natural. Nathan isn’t the police chief. And Marion Caldwell was killing people with her weather trouble.
This week on Haven, it’s back to the status quo. No, Audrey’s not back in Haven yet but we’re back to the Trouble of the Week format of episode. At least we had some other happenings in Haven to liven things up.
Haven: Fallout Review
Did you know that despite the fact that the show is filmed in Nova Scotia and funded in part by a Canadian cable company and the Nova Scotian and Canadian governments, the fourth season of Haven won’t start airing in Canada until December? (Sunday, December 1st at 9 PM for those keeping score at home.) I’m not waiting that long. Since I’m watching the show early, I thought that I’d also review them.
Last Friday, Haven returned for its fourth season with many questions left unanswered from the third season finale. Fortunately, my questions have been answered in the season premiere with a few more asked for the next thirteen episodes.
Doctor Who: The Name of The Doctor Review
Well, Saturday night’s season finale of Doctor Who happened. I’m not really sure how else to introduce it. Even taking a day to digest that episode, I’m not really sure what to think of it. I never went into it thinking that Steven Moffat would give The Doctor a proper Gallifreyan name but that was my only expectation going into this episode.
What we got was an episode that relied heavily on doses of nostalgia and Matt Smith’s acting to get us by. Not surprisingly, it answered some questions about Clara and asked some new ones for the 50th Anniversary Special.
