Good news, Man of Steel premieres tomorrow! Better news, no matter what happens, there’s no way that it can be a worse Superman movie than Superman Returns. In case you’ve forgotten how bad that movie was, here’s everything that was wrong with Superman Returns in six minutes (or less).

Mass Effect Meets Star Wars in an Epic Sci-Fi Mashup
I’ve probably been a bit too cynical about all the goings on at E3 this year but it’s hard not to be given proper gameplay innovations are few and far between. If I hear about another second screen experience or the power of the cloud, I’m going to start pulling my hair out.
So to cheer me up, I’m going to show you one of my favourite Mass Effect mashups. DeviantArt user Zarnala has put together a few epic mashup pictures of Star Wars and Mass Effect.
The TSA Doesn’t Like Chewbacca or His Lightsaber
Even Han Solo’s best friend can’t get through airport security without some serious scrutiny. Peter Mayhew, who is best known for being the man inside the Chewbacca, was given some extra attention from the Transportation Security Administration over his lightsaber cane.
Apparently, they were quite concerned about the safety of the plane with Mayhew and his not-a-real lightsaber aboard. Initial media reports said that fans pressured the TSA to let Mayhew and his cane through security after a lengthy check but the TSA denies that was the case.

Inside Game of Thrones’ “The Rains of Castamere”
We’ve already looked at video of people reacting to the biggest moment of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice. Now, we get to look at last week’s episode of Game of Thrones through the eye of the producers of the hit HBO show. They’re very modest about the whole thing but people were putting Game of Thrones on the shortlist of great shows of all-time. That talk is only going to get louder after last week’s episode.
Naturally, this video has spoilers for folks who haven’t read the books or watched last week’s episode.
Some People were Quite Shocked by Game of Thrones
Having not read the books yet, Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones certainly caught me off-guard. It was definitely a big “did that just happen” moment though I’ll definitely be back for this week’s season finale. However, there were some people who were well and truly shocked and upset after watching the most recent episode. Those people make great viewing for us thanks to YouTube.
By the way, the video is probably a bit spoilerish so if you haven’t seen last week’s episode and haven’t read the books: Spoilers…
Matt Smith is Leaving Doctor Who
Farewell, Eleven. We hardly knew ye. After about three years on the job, Matt Smith will be hanging up the bowtie and fez and leave Doctor Who at the end of the year. A press release from Smith said that he would appear in the 50th Anniversary Special and make his final appearance at the helm of the TARDIS in the Christmas Special when The Doctor will regenerate into the Twelfth Doctor.
This Fan-Made Doctor Who Teaser is Better than What BBC Will Give Us
It’s only been a couple of weeks but I miss my weekend episodes of Doctor Who. Maybe I’ll go back and review classic Who to fill in some of the six months between now and November’s 50th Anniversary special.
For now, this Monday with Who (I’ll come up with a better series title for Monday Doctor Who posts) I have a fan made teaser trailer for the 50th Anniversary special.
PS: I’m allowed to refer to The Doctor as Doctor Who as his proper name. It was established in canon in The War Machines.
Game of StarCraft
I’ve missed my Friday Game of Thrones posts. I’m actually kind of shocked that I haven’t done a single GoT post in four weeks. Fortunately, I have something cool for you today.
YouTube user Tolkfan has put together the Game of Thrones intro using StarCraft footage. It’s pretty damn cool and very reminiscent of the real intro.
Here’s a Full-Size X-Wing Built with Legos
May 27
This gallery contains 9 photos.
I’m not sure what possessing a group of people to construct a 1:1 scale model of an X-Wing out of Lego using 5,335,200 bricks when you could just buy a kit off the shelf. Granted, the kit off the shelf is about 1/42nd of the size of the full-sized version. Anyway, here’s a look at the […]
Will & Jaden Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Alfonso Ribeiro Take Over The Graham Norton Show
I don’t know if this falls under what we typically do as geek culture coverage but it’s my blog and I love this video so I say we’re watching this. Will and Jaden Smith were on the BBC’s Graham Norton Show to promote a movie when they dropped a couple of massive surprises. You can watch the whole thing but the fun really starts to pick up at about 1:45.
