What If Doctor Who was an American Show?

When the ill-fated Doctor Who TV movie was made back in 1996, it was a co-production between the BBC and the American network Fox. The movie was made as a pilot for a revival of the show that would be produced by Fox for an American audience. However, while the movie was a success in Britain, it was a flop in America which meant that the series was never made.

But what if Doctor Who wasn’t just revived as an American series? What if the whole of Doctor Who was produced in America? Maybe these American actors would have played The Doctor. What do you think?

Crucifictorious Reunites on Friday Night Lights / Parenthood Crossover

This probably doesn’t fall under the usual list of things that we cover on etg but I thought that this was too neat not to post. I’m a big Friday Night Lights fan so when we get a reunion of Landry Clarke’s (played by FNL/Breaking Bad/Battleship alum Jesse Plemons) band Crucificorious, I’m going to post that video.

Clear eyes, full hearts…

How Much Would It Cost to Build 17 Famous Movie Homes in Lego?

With The Lego Movie coming out this week, our friends at Movoto switched up from their usual practice of valuing famous movie real estate to valuing the Lego bricks required to make said famous movie houses.

They determined how big famous movie dwellings actually are and then figured out how many Lego bricks it would take to make a full-size recreation of these buildings. Whether building it in Legos or brick and mortar, it’s not cheap to do build a big home.

Game of Thrones Meets the NFL in this Awesome Super Bowl Intro

It seems that the Austrians have two great loves: The National Football League and Game of Thrones. The two were combined into what is simply the greatest intro in sports TV history. Austrian channel PULS 4 combined the two for their intro for last weekend’s Super Bowl. Too bad none of the sports broadcasts on this side of the Atlantic are this cool.

All 32 NFL Teams in the Star Wars Universe

While Disney might be gutting the Expanded Universe, who knows what the rebuild could result in. Given that Disney’s ESPN channel pays NFL rights fees in excess of $1 billion, Disney’s propensity for cross-promotion and the inclusion of various sports in the prequel trilogy, a Star Wars-ized football league wouldn’t be out of the question for the Disney trilogy.

So what would the Star Wars equivalents to the current crop of NFL teams look like? Reddit user IlliterateGenius dreamed it up. Go Rancors!

Eisenberg, Not Heisenberg, to Play Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman

jesse-eisenberg-lex-luthor-man-of-steel-2After hearing the news that The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Lex Luthor, I think that DC Comics fans were in a state of collective shock. Considering that Bryan Cranston was interested in the role and would have been absolutely perfect, fans were absolutely flabbergasted that Jesse Eisenberg will get the leading antagonist role for Man of Steel 2, AKA Batman vs. Superman.

Every Doctor Who Regeneration in GIF

It’s only about eight-and-a-half-ish months until we get more Doctor Who. I’m not suffering withdrawals. This post should not be taken as a sign of my mental state. GIFs!

I mean, I was on Tumblr the other day and found my favourite collection of Doctor Who regeneration GIFs I’ve ever seen. There have been a lot of regeneration GIFs since we found out that Matt Smith was leaving Doctor Who but these ones showing before, during and after along with The Doctor’s last words is pretty cool.

Haven Renewed for 26 More Episodes

haven-title-card-bannerFor a while there, fans of Haven were expecting the worst given that Syfy was taking longer than usual to make any announcement about the future of the series and the channel’s propensity for cancelling series after their fourth season.

Yesterday, though, Haven fans were given the news that not only was Haven renewed but Syfy ordered 26 episodes (the equivalent of two seasons of the show) to be shown over the next two years.

Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor Costume Revealed

The oldest man to take over the helm of the TARDIS gets an old-school costume that harkens back to the outfit that Jon Pertwee wore as the Third Doctor. Peter Capaldi’s Doctor has lost the bowtie, tweed, cuffed pants and boots for a more elegant looking ensemble that I’d be more than willing to cosplay in.

Pixar to Make Its Own Star Wars Movie

pixar-star-warsWhen Disney said that they would be producing “spin-off” movies alongside the VII, VIII, IX trilogy of films, I don’t think anyone expected them to bring their biggest guns off the shelf to make a movie.

No, Johnny Depp isn’t making a Disney produced Star Wars film. (Well, not yet and hopefully not ever.) Reports indicate that they’ve called in Pixar to make an animated Star Wars spin-off movie.
