For the first, and likely only, time on the blog, we have some video from Vanity Fair. The entertainment magazine is doing a Game of Thrones themed cover shoot ahead of the fourth season premiere. For this edition of Fridays of Ice and Fire, the cast of Game of Thrones examine their characters and the state of Westeros.

Fourteen Game of Thrones Deaths as GIFs
Good news! It’s Friday! The work week is just a few hours from ending which means that it’s time for Fridays of Ice and Fire. This week, I have something definitely more spoilerish. It’s a look at some memorable deaths from the first three seasons (and there have been a lot of them) in 8-bit GIF form.
This House of Cards / Walking Dead Intro Mashup is Appropriate and Awesome
While politics interests me, I often find it painful to follow and discuss with people. Any optimism I once had about politics has long since been washed away by cynicism. That’s convenient because I’m getting cynical about The Walking Dead since I just assume that it’ll be dreadfully dull to watch and discuss.
Okay, that segue is a pretty poor introduction to this mashup of House of Cards and The Walking Dead but it can’t be any worst than the obligatory “This is awesome!” that this intro by District 7 Media deserves.
Coming Soon to Spain – Star Trek: The Theme Park
Just because the whole country of Spain is pretty much broke doesn’t mean that Paramount isn’t spending money there and expecting to receive people’s money in return. They recently announced the creation of what is effectively a resort in the municipality of Alhama de Murcia called Paramount Park Murcia which will include a really cool looking Star Trek theme park.
Haven: Welcome to Haven Review
Well, I promised that I would go back and review old episodes of Haven and here we are. I figured that there was no better place to start going through 39 episodes of Haven that I haven’t reviewed than where it all started. At least until I review The Colorado Kid. Then you almost wonder how we get from there to here.
Valar Morghulis – Game of Thrones Season 4 Posters
Fridays of Ice and Fire roll on this week with twelve character posters for the upcoming season of the show. It does say something about the scale of the show when there are 12 posters and they still leave out important characters like Stannis, Littlefinger, Varys, The Hound, Sam, Ghost and Hodor. I’m sure there are a few more of your favourites that didn’t make HBO’s or my cut for posters.
Heroes Returns to NBC in 2015
Remember Heroes? Wasn’t that a pretty cool season of television? Sure, it dragged a bit at points but, on the whole, it always seemed fairly interesting and compelling. That 2006-07 season was a ratings and critical hit.
Then the second season of the show dropped and things very quickly stopped making any sense. When the show stopped being interesting, the people stopped watching and the critics stopped caring. The show slowly bled viewers until it was mercifully killed by NBC following its fourth season.
However, NBC execs are so desperate to shore up a network that’s competing with Univision for 4th in ratings any time The Voice isn’t on that they’re going back to the well. NBC announced that they’re reviving Heroes for a 13-episode miniseries called Heroes Reborn and bringing back creator Tim Kring to helm it.
What if Disney Princesses Were Game of Thrones Characters?
Since we’re only six weeks away from the season premiere of Game of Thrones, I think that now is the time for the return of regular Game of Thrones posts in a series that I’ve come to dub Fridays of Ice and Fire.
For the return of Game of Thrones posts, I found this mashup of Disney princesses with characters from Game of Thrones in the gallery of DjeDjehuti. So what would Disney characters look like if they were in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros?
Gravity Gets an Honest Trailer
It may be a critically acclaimed, award nominated movie but I haven’t really been too interested in Gravity. Sure, it looks pretty but the commercials didn’t seem to indicate much to the movie besides visuals and a panicking Sandra Bullock. And this edition of Honest Trailers… doesn’t do anything to change my mind actually.
And while I know that Honest Trailers takes the piss out of movies, between this and the terrible DVD ads, Sandra Bullock does seem a bit like Homer Simpson when he did his stint with NASA. Her character doesn’t exactly seem like she would ever make it past NASA training. Oh well. Suspension of disbelief and all that.
