Michelle Fairley and Richard Madden Cry During DVD Commentary of the Red Wedding

There are always those TV moments where you remember where you were and who you were with when it happened. Last season’s Game of Thrones episode The Rains of Castamere would qualify as having one of those moments.

We’ve documented some of the reactions people had to the Red Wedding but there are two more reactions that you have to listen to. For the DVD release of the episode, Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark) and Richard Madden (Robb Stark) did the commentary with the episode’s director, David Nutter. It was the first time Michelle watched the episode and even though she was there on set, it still made an emotional impact on her.

By the way, if you haven’t watched the episode: Spoilers.

How Much Would it Cost to Buy Game of Thrones’ Red Keep?

Every now and then, our friends over at Movoto like coming up real estate valuations of famous fictional landmarks. To mark the return of Game of Thrones for its fourth season, they took a shot at valuing The Red Keep, the castle of the king of the Seven Kingdoms in King’s Landing. I won’t say that they did this just for us but they did email it to me just in time for Fridays of Ice and Fire.

So how much would buying The Red Keep set you back? I’d reckon that the Master of Coin would struggle to come up with that much money.

Get Hyped for Season Four with These Game of Thrones Trailers

This is it! Game of Thrones is back this weekend! While some suckers are going to be watching WrestleMania 30 with Vince McMahon trying to be Tywin Lannister, there’s no substitute for the real deal.

So for today’s Friday of Ice and Fire, it’s time to give the trailers for Season Four of Game of Thrones one final watch before it all begins again.

Catch Up (or Refresh) on Game of Thrones with These Recaps

We’re just nine days away from WrestleMania XXX the Season Four premiere of Game of Thrones. Since viewership keeps for GoT keeps going up, I would assume that a bunch of people are jumping in just to see what the hype is about. The problem with that is that Game of Thrones isn’t really the sort of show you can just jump into part way through and quickly grasp everything that has happened (and a lot has happened).

So to help out newcomers to Game of Thrones (and those needing a quick refresher course), for today’s Friday of Ice and Fire, we have some quick-ish recaps of the first three seasons of the show.

A Look Ahead to Season Four of Game of Thrones

We’re just three weeks away from the start of Season Four of Game of Thrones. For this week’s Friday of Ice and Fire, we have HBO’s 15-minute preview video of the upcoming season that features cast interviews and clips from upcoming episodes. This video got me more excited for this season than any of the trailers did.

By the way, there are spoilers in this video. You probably guessed that, though.

Inside Westeros with the Cast of Game of Thrones

For the first, and likely only, time on the blog, we have some video from Vanity Fair. The entertainment magazine is doing a Game of Thrones themed cover shoot ahead of the fourth season premiere. For this edition of Fridays of Ice and Fire, the cast of Game of Thrones examine their characters and the state of Westeros.

Fourteen Game of Thrones Deaths as GIFs

Good news! It’s Friday! The work week is just a few hours from ending which means that it’s time for Fridays of Ice and Fire. This week, I have something definitely more spoilerish. It’s a look at some memorable deaths from the first three seasons (and there have been a lot of them) in 8-bit GIF form.

Valar Morghulis – Game of Thrones Season 4 Posters

Fridays of Ice and Fire roll on this week with twelve character posters for the upcoming season of the show. It does say something about the scale of the show when there are 12 posters and they still leave out important characters like Stannis, Littlefinger, Varys, The Hound, Sam, Ghost and Hodor. I’m sure there are a few more of your favourites that didn’t make HBO’s or my cut for posters.

What if Disney Princesses Were Game of Thrones Characters?

disney-game-of-thrones-banner-djedjehutiSince we’re only six weeks away from the season premiere of Game of Thrones, I think that now is the time for the return of regular Game of Thrones posts in a series that I’ve come to dub Fridays of Ice and Fire.

For the return of Game of Thrones posts, I found this mashup of Disney princesses with characters from Game of Thrones in the gallery of DjeDjehuti. So what would Disney characters look like if they were in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros?

Inside Game of Thrones’ “The Rains of Castamere”

We’ve already looked at video of people reacting to the biggest moment of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice. Now, we get to look at last week’s episode of Game of Thrones through the eye of the producers of the hit HBO show. They’re very modest about the whole thing but people were putting Game of Thrones on the shortlist of great shows of all-time. That talk is only going to get louder after last week’s episode.

Naturally, this video has spoilers for folks who haven’t read the books or watched last week’s episode.
