Saints Row IV Gets “GATV” DLC

saints-row-iv-gatv-dlcSince I’ve looked at a bunch of GTA5 related stuff to start the day, let’s segue to something a bit more comical.

The Saints Row series was originally considered to be a GTA clone though SR4 certainly distanced itself from Grand Theft Auto. That doesn’t mean that they can’t still have a little fun at GTA’s expense.

Today, Saints Row is getting the GATV DLC pack which is a Johnny Gat themed customization pack. If you missed it the first time, re-read that DLC’s name slowly, though, if you’re like me, you probably did a double-take to make sure you read the DLC’s name correctly. I thought this was worth a bit of a chuckle.

It’s currently available for free on Steam for a very limited time. If you have SR4, get on that now.

Building (Critical) Consensus: Saints Row IV

saints-row-iv-box-artWhat started life as a DLC is being released tomorrow as a full game. The origin of Saints Row IV has been well documented as has its battle with the Australian Classification Board over the game’s content and developer Volition’s purchase by Deep Silver during the THQ bankruptcy auction.

Despite the core game being expanded out of a Saints Row: The Third DLC, critics generally love this game. They enjoyed the over-the-top superpowers and the game’s general sense of fun and humour. Others found that there wasn’t much to the game beyond the superpowers and that said powers were a bit OP. Looks like your enjoyment of the game may come down to your enjoyment of crazy superpowers.

PAX East 2013 News Roundup

PAX East isn’t known for big announcements and this year was no exception. However, there were a few noteworthy tidbits to come out of this year’s convention.

DuckTales Remastered

Sorry, let me compose myself for a minute. It’s a remake of the classic NES game based on the classic Disney cartoon, both of which we all know and love. In addition to the graphical updates, WayForward seems to have added a bit to the game as there are some parts of that trailer that I don’t recognize.

My only question (besides an actual release date) is about the music. The Moon level’s music is considered to be among the best pieces of music written in the 8-bit era. I’m hoping that the original music for that level comes back but as long as that piece comes back in some form or another.
