EA Sports UFC Has Some Hilarious Glitches

EA Sports new UFC game isn’t getting the same love a critical acclaim that some of their other franchises get. I seem to recall the Fight Night series getting some amazing reviews, especially Round 4 which was absolutely epic. UFC is getting mostly mid-level reviews with a Metacritic score in the low 70s.

While it might not be EA Sports’s best offering to date, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have some fun with it. This video of glitches as called by “Mike Goldberg” and “Joe Rogan” is pretty damn funny.

Electronic Sports World Cup Adds Just Dance to its Lineup

just-dance-eswc-headerAs much of a fan as I am of eSports, I just couldn’t quite wrap my head around the latest “eSport” to join the offerings at this fall’s Electronic Sports World Cup in Paris.

If you’re a fan of dancing, you now have a reason to be interested into eSports. Ubisoft announced that their next dance game, Just Dance 2015, will be a part of the competitive lineup at the 2014 ESWC.

Steam Summer Sale: June 25, 2014

steam-summer-sale-2014-bannerSteam has made a change to the Summer Adventure prize structure that might require more formal documentation on the blog but you should take a look because you don’t have to be in first place to win the big prizes now.

Anyway, since I’m naming everyday’s sales, I’d say that today’s theme is Hidden Deals. Sure, there are some pretty common deals as your visible daily deals but it’s all the hidden stuff that isn’t right up front that is worth your money. Fortunately, I have dug many of them up. The whole Batman: Arkham, BioShock and Final Fantasy franchises are on sale which is big news for fans of those franchises.

Evolve and Destiny Lead Best of E3 2014 Nominations

best-of-e3-2014-headerEvery year, a group of gaming publications come together to vote on their favourite games at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3. While E3 awards don’t actually mean anything in reality, they’re hyped heavily in marketing games so the publishers obviously value them.

This year’s top nominated game was Evolve which picked up six nominations. Next with four nominations were Destiny and Rainbow Six: Seige. From a publisher’s perspective, it was a three-way tie between 2K, Warner Bros., and Ubisoft all on eight nominations.

Bohemia Interactive Donates 1 Million Czech Koruna From Arma 3 Kart DLC Sales

arma-3-karts-headerIt started as an April Fools’ Day joke and quickly became something bigger. It was just a little prank on April 1st. Two months later, it was a reality with the Karts DLC released on Steam. And one month after that, Bohemia took a portion of the proceeds of the sales and donated it to the Czech Red Cross.

Comic Book Pull List for June 25, 2014

wolverine-9I figure I should probably start this week’s pull list with the cash grabbiest of titles. Okay, some of you are probably interested but the hype Marvel is trying to push on this and the fact that comic book characters never stay dead (Hi, Peter Parker) make me very cynical about it. Anyway, this week’s Wolverine #9 starts the Death of Wolverine storyline so Wolverine fans might be just a little interested in it.

The other big comic industry story of the week is the debut of John Romita Jr. over at DC Comics as the new artist on the Superman series. DC Creative boss Geoff Johns also joins the series giving Romita the A-list treatment that Johns previously gave Ivan Reis and Joe Prado at the launch of The New 52. Romita’s debut comes in Superman #32.

Steam Summer Sale: June 24, 2014

steam-summer-sale-2014-bannerWell, I finally bought something during the Steam Summer Sale. It took five days at it was Battleblock Theater for $3.74 but it still counts. If you’re a bit behind on some more recent popular triple-As or well-regarded indies, this is the sort of day that will break the bank a bit. I did that in previous sales because I’m an idiot so you’ll be saving money compared to me.

Also, I’m having a terrible run with Community Choice voting. I think I’ve voted for the winning deal twice this whole sale. If I tell you guys that I’m voting the Casual – Comedy bundle, will you help me out with a few votes?

Microsoft Says It’s Not Killing Games for Windows Live

games-for-windows-live-headerReports of Games For Windows Live’s death have been greatly exaggerated. Despite Windows’ Xbox.com PC Marketplace being shuttered last summer, reports suggesting GFWL was due to close at the end of the month and the mass exodus of games from the GFWL platform, Microsoft says that they have no plans to close Games For Windows Live.

Steam Summer Sale: June 23, 2014

steam-summer-sale-2014-bannerSince I seem to be making a habit of naming the sales that are up as I make these posts, I think I might call this one the “Holy crap! It only costs how much?” pack. If I told you that I would sell you Dark Souls, Hitman: Absolution and Awesomenauts for less than $10, would you go for that? You can do it with this sale.

Awesomenauts is actually on for $1 right now on a flash deal so you should jump right on that. Failing that, you can get the following games (among others) for less than $5: Dark Souls, FTL, Rogue Legacy, Surgeon Simulator 2013 and Hitman: Absolution. If I didn’t own all of these games, I would suggest that I would break the bank on this one. I did that on previous sales, though.
