The Outer Worlds Speedrun Record Already Set at 11 Minutes

The Outer Worlds hasn’t been out for about a month but it already has an impressive speedrun record. According to HowLongToBeat, the average time to play the game is about 12 hours. If you want to beat it with some sidequests, that playtime crawls up to closer to 22 hours. If you want to play it fast? That will win you less than 2% of the run time at 10 minutes and 49 seconds. That was the case for Sharo who has already topped the time sheets for The Outer Worlds Any%.

And here are the game directors of The Outer Worlds reacting to their latest game being beaten in less time than it takes to drink a coffee. This is a different speedrun by CreeperHntr. His time in this run would rank him 17th in the world.

Critics Corner: South Park: The Stick of Truth

south-park-the-stick-of-truth-bannerBreak out the Ron Paul GIFs because IT’S HAPPENING! After delays that added up to 15 months, South Park: The Stick of Truth is finally out. The game, written and voiced by South Park creators/writers Trey Parker and Matt Stone, has gone through a little turmoil as Obsidian’s development of the game was hampered by THQ’s bankruptcy and the sale of the South Park licence to Ubisoft.

Usually delays mean trouble for a game in development but most of the critics love this game. If you’re a South Park fan, The Stick of Truth is what you’ve been looking for from a South Park game for years. It’s not just another generic licensed piece of garbage. Obsidian is a developer who is used to working with other people’s IP and thriving. Just ask anyone who’s played KOTOR 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. It shouldn’t be a surprise that it lived up to my personal hype as my most anticipated game of 2013 and 2014.

Anyway, enough of the history lesson and hype. Here’s what the critics think of South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Retailers Say South Park: The Stick of Truth Releases in August

south-park-the-stick-of-truth-bannerThe bankruptcy of THQ put a delay on a number of games and made us question the fate of numerous games in their portfolio. Now, it looks as though the hotly anticipated South Park RPG, South Park: The Stick of Truth, appears to be hitting store shelves very soon.

According to retailers Future Shop and Best Buy, South Park: The Stick of Truth is due for release on August 27th. This hasn’t been confirmed by Ubisoft yet but that’s not surprising because Ubisoft has been very quiet about all former THQ products since buying THQ assets and IP during the bankruptcy auction.

South Park: The Stick of Truth was originally due for release in early March 2013. It might be six months late because of THQ’s issues but hopefully it allowed Obsidian some extra time (and money) to polish the game.
