What If Doctor Who was an American Show?

When the ill-fated Doctor Who TV movie was made back in 1996, it was a co-production between the BBC and the American network Fox. The movie was made as a pilot for a revival of the show that would be produced by Fox for an American audience. However, while the movie was a success in Britain, it was a flop in America which meant that the series was never made.

But what if Doctor Who wasn’t just revived as an American series? What if the whole of Doctor Who was produced in America? Maybe these American actors would have played The Doctor. What do you think?

Every Doctor Who Regeneration in GIF

It’s only about eight-and-a-half-ish months until we get more Doctor Who. I’m not suffering withdrawals. This post should not be taken as a sign of my mental state. GIFs!

I mean, I was on Tumblr the other day and found my favourite collection of Doctor Who regeneration GIFs I’ve ever seen. There have been a lot of regeneration GIFs since we found out that Matt Smith was leaving Doctor Who but these ones showing before, during and after along with The Doctor’s last words is pretty cool.

Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor Costume Revealed

The oldest man to take over the helm of the TARDIS gets an old-school costume that harkens back to the outfit that Jon Pertwee wore as the Third Doctor. Peter Capaldi’s Doctor has lost the bowtie, tweed, cuffed pants and boots for a more elegant looking ensemble that I’d be more than willing to cosplay in.

Doctor Who: The Time of The Doctor Review

doctor-who-the-time-of-the-doctor-headerThe recent Doctor Who Christmas special marked a couple of milestones for the series. Not only did The Time of The Doctor mark Matt Smith’s final appearance as The Doctor and Peter Capaldi’s first appearance in the titular role but it was the series’ 800th episode dating back to 1963.

Given the hit or miss nature of many of the 11th Doctor’s adventures, would his final story at the helm of the TARDIS be another Moffat classic or would Eleven go out with a whimper rather than a bang?

Doctor Who: The Day of The Doctor Review

doctor-who-the-day-of-the-doctor-headerOver the course of 50 years, Doctor Who has come a long way from an old man travelling around in a plain-looking police box in a children’s educational show. Now, it’s a massive worldwide phenomenon that has skyrocketed in popularity since the series was revived from cancellation in 2005.

The 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, a show that was effectively dead for sixteen years, has garnered so much attention that it may be an event that rivals the World Cup final or Super Bowl when all the viewers are counted up. Could The Day of The Doctor live up to the expectations and hype of one of the most hotly anticipated TV events of the year?

Paul McGann Returns in 50th Anniversary Prologue “The Night of the Doctor”

We’re just a little over a week away from the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who and the Day of The Doctor special. To get us ready for it, the BBC have created a little prologue introducing us to John Hurt’s character from The Name of The Doctor with a little assist from the Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann. See, they didn’t forget about Eight.

Sherlock Season 3 Teaser Drops

Because there wasn’t much news this weekend, here’s the teaser trailer for Season Three of Sherlock. It doesn’t tell us anything new but all your favourites are in it so I’d imagine that you’d be kinda interested to see it if you haven’t watched it a couple of dozen times already.

Peter Capaldi is the 12th Doctor

peter-capaldiWhat’s old is new again for Doctor Who. After Matt Smith took over as The Doctor as the youngest man to play the role, Steven Moffat has selected 55-year-old Scottish actor Peter Capaldi to play the 12th incarnation of The Doctor.

Matt Smith is Leaving Doctor Who

doctor-who-11th-doctor-regenerationFarewell, Eleven. We hardly knew ye. After about three years on the job, Matt Smith will be hanging up the bowtie and fez and leave Doctor Who at the end of the year. A press release from Smith said that he would appear in the 50th Anniversary Special and make his final appearance at the helm of the TARDIS in the Christmas Special when The Doctor will regenerate into the Twelfth Doctor.

This Fan-Made Doctor Who Teaser is Better than What BBC Will Give Us

It’s only been a couple of weeks but I miss my weekend episodes of Doctor Who. Maybe I’ll go back and review classic Who to fill in some of the six months between now and November’s 50th Anniversary special.

For now, this Monday with Who (I’ll come up with a better series title for Monday Doctor Who posts) I have a fan made teaser trailer for the 50th Anniversary special.

PS: I’m allowed to refer to The Doctor as Doctor Who as his proper name. It was established in canon in The War Machines.
