E3 2015: Bethesda Trailer Roundup
With all the pre-amble prior to E3 finally coming to a close this morning, it’s time to start going through some of the new trailers and games that were unveiled at E3.
We’ll start with the first press conference of the week which means that we start with Bethesda. Their rookie effort at E3 focused heavily on their two biggest upcoming releases. Multiple gameplay and features videos of Fallout 4 and Doom made up the majority of the conference. There were a few reveals too including a new Dishonored and spin-offs of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.
E3 2015: What Surprises Are In Store at Sony’s Press Conference
After a day full of big announcements and exciting reveals, it all comes to an end with Sony’s big annual press event. We’re used to Sony having something big up their sleeve to excite gamers but no one’s positive what that might be. Unlike what I expected from the Microsoft press conference, could third-party titles and exclusives be Sony’s big coup this year?
E3 2015: Will Ubisoft’s Presser Go Beyond Annual Updates of Annual Franchises?
I feel as though that title is part trolling Ubisoft and part the absolute truth. Ubisoft is a tricky company to figure out. While they will put money into new games, they all tend to be very formulaic unless they’re of the smaller or experimental variety. So will they have anything new for people to play in the near future?
E3 2015: EA Expected to Bring the Franchises in their Keynote
While we’re all still digesting what went down at the Microsoft press conference (at least I assume something went down and I don’t have to completely overhaul this preview), we quickly move on to Electronic Arts conference. As you would expect from EA, they’ll have a lot of sequels and franchises on display. Still, they could have a surprise or two up their sleeve.
E3 2015: Rumours, Predictions and a Preview of Microsoft’s Presser
With Bethesda’s E3 opening press conference out of the way, it’s time for the big boys to play with the four Monday press conferences that we typically see on the Monday before E3 officially begins. The first of the four Monday pressers is Microsoft. While Microsoft bounced back from the Xbox One launch E3 presser last year, this year looks to be an even bigger year for Microsoft at E3. This could be their big chance to move ahead of Sony in the 8th-Gen console wars.
E3 2015: What to Expect from Bethesda’s First E3 Press Conference
While E3 officially starts on Tuesday and the real news at E3 happens with the Big Four pressers on Monday, the 2015 edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo will kick off on Sunday when Bethesda has their first E3 press conference.
As part of our week-long E3 coverage on et geekera, we start with a preview of the first of the week’s seven major press conferences and tell you what to expect from Bethesda and what rumours suggest they have up their sleeve.
Evolve Wins Best of Show and 3 Other Best of E3 Awards
After an E3 that didn’t really set the gaming world on fire for the remainder of 2014, the 29 media outlets on the Game Critics Awards panel have announced the official best of E3 award winners. The big winner was Evolve which picked up four awards, including Best of Show. Hot on its heels was No Man’s Sky which won three awards, one of which is was best Indie Game.
By the way, don’t try to make sense of why some games won some big awards but missed out on other awards. Given that I keep hearing about these awards from Geoff Keighley, I’d imagine that some VGX-style consolation prizing is going on.
Evolve and Destiny Lead Best of E3 2014 Nominations
Every year, a group of gaming publications come together to vote on their favourite games at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3. While E3 awards don’t actually mean anything in reality, they’re hyped heavily in marketing games so the publishers obviously value them.
This year’s top nominated game was Evolve which picked up six nominations. Next with four nominations were Destiny and Rainbow Six: Seige. From a publisher’s perspective, it was a three-way tie between 2K, Warner Bros., and Ubisoft all on eight nominations.
Steam Machines are Going Portable with the SteamBoy
While SteamOS and the Steam Controller have gotten a bit of interest from gamers and developers, the Steam Machines, Valve’s attempt at bringing Steam and PC gaming to the living room, haven’t exactly set the world on fire.
That may change with a new Steam Machine that was unveiled at E3. It’s definitely not your standard Steam Machine. The new SteamBoy is going to take your Steam experience out of the living room and on the road with this portable gaming device.
E3 2014: Sony Reveals Pricing of PlayStation Now
While we’ve heard plenty of good things about the PlayStation Now services and gotten a look at some of the games but one key component of PS Now that hadn’t been revealed during the closed beta was the pricing model. With the announcement of the PlayStation Now open beta starting on July 31st, Sony took the opportunity to reveal the prices of renting games on the service and it may not endear them to many gamers.
