E3 2016 Preview: Microsoft Will Be Focusing on New Hardware in Their E3 Keynote

microsoft-e3-2016As is the current state of operations for the pre-E3 press conferences, Microsoft will be the first company out of the blocks on Monday. Their annual press conference has a few tasks this year. As always, they have to hype the games coming this fall for the holiday shopping season. More importantly, there’s the matter of the second-generation Xbox One that they have to sell without scaring off current Xbox One owners.

I know that E3 effectively got underway yesterday with the EA and Bethesda press conferences but thanks to leaks, many companies decided to get out front of E3 with announcements and trailers. Before we get to previews for today’s press conferences and recaps of yesterday’s, let’s look at the trailers that were unveiled before E3 got under way.

E3 2016 Preview: Bethesda Focuses On Seconds for Its Second E3

bethesda-e3-2016After a big Fallout 4 focused presentation for their inaugural E3 presentation, Bethesda will be back with even more for 2016’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. While they won’t be first out of the game with their keynote, an “honour” going to EA this year, they will certainly be swinging a big stick this year. For E3 appearance #2, Bethesda will focus on the number 2. They will have a lot of sequels that will or could have the number two in the title. By my count, they might have four games that are the second one in their respective franchises at this year’s E3 presentation.

E3 2016 Preview: What Franchises to Expect from EA

ea-play-e3-2016EA is changing things up with their approach to E3 in 2016. Not only will they not be on the show floor at the LA Convention Center but they’ve dropped their Monday afternoon press conference for a Sunday afternoon presser to make them the first company to make their E3 presentation. There will be a lot of pressure on them to put on a good show to start E3 off right. Fortunately for the twice Worst Company in the World, they have some big franchises with big sequels due for release this year.

Four Companies Won’t Be on the Floor at E3 2016

e3-2016-logo-headerIt used to be the most important week in gaming. Now, it looks as though it isn’t just the gamers and the press that think that the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3, has lost some of its luster. Some of the biggest names in the industry don’t see it as the be all and end all of gaming.

Over the last few months, four companies have publicly announced that they won’t have a presence on the floor of E3 this year. In January, EA announced that they wouldn’t be at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Over the last week, Activision, Disney Interactive and Wargaming all announced they wouldn’t be at the LACC either.
