BlackBerry Tries Improving Its Fortunes with Donuts
Last Friday, BlackBerry tried turning around its fortunes in Canada with a special promotion at Canadian institution. Tim Hortons is a coffee shop that is a national icon with stores all across the country. One of their flagship stores in downtown Toronto had a special promotion with free coffee for BlackBerry users. Tim’s also used the opportunity to unveil the BlackBerry donut which is has vanilla icing, purple sprinkles and blackberry jelly. This was to show off the new Timmy’s app on BlackBerry that let’s you pay with your BB10 phone.
I don’t know if this will help BlackBerry at all but at least the donut might be tasty. Tim’s coffee, on the other hand, is just awful.

BlackBerry Resumes BBM for Android and iOS Launch
After last month’s failed attempt to roll out their reasonably popular BlackBerry Messenger app on Android and iOS devices, BlackBerry announced yesterday that they were rolling out the apps all over again. However, to prevent the supposed server problems that crippled September’s launch attempt, BlackBerry is doing a phased roll-out of access to the service.

BlackBerry Courting More Buyers Including Google
Declaring that BlackBerry had been sold to Fairfax Financial Holdings for $4.7 billion might have been a bit premature. A report from Reuters says that BlackBerry’s sale is far from finalized and the beleaguered smartphone manufacturer is talking to more interested parties about a sale including SAP, Cisco Systems and Google.

BlackBerry Sold for $4.7 Billion
Just when you thought BlackBerry might be dead after their weekend from hell, it looks like that a consortium of buyers still see some life in the old girl yet. A group led by BlackBerry’s largest shareholder, Fairfax Financial Holdings, will buy the outstanding shares of BlackBerry in an all-cash deal totaling $4.7 billion.

BlackBerry and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Weekend
Just when you thought that BlackBerry was turning a corner and making a comeback with the launch of BlackBerry 10 earlier this year, it turns out that the only way they can make news is when things go catastrophically badly for them. BlackBerry stole the Friday and Saturday headlines from Apple’s launch of the iPhone 5S with announcements of $1 billion in inventory write-downs, a massive staff cut and the failure to launch of BBM.

RIM Officially Launches BB10, Changes Company Name to BlackBerry
The Canadian national nightmare is finally over. RIM has finally officially announced the launch of its much-anticipated BlackBerry 10 operating system and the first two phones to use their new OS, the BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry Q10.
Oh, and Research In Motion decided that now was a very good time to rebrand the whole company. From today, RIM is dead. Long live BlackBerry! I mean, RIM has changed its name to BlackBerry. Makes sense. Everyone called it that anyway. Read the rest of this entry

Fear Not, BlackBerry 10 Will Come on a Phone with a Keyboard
Many friends and acquaintances aren’t shy about giving me a hard time for owning a first-gen BlackBerry Torch. The reason I got it was because it had both the touchscreen and RIM signature QWERTY keyboard. Good luck finding a decent smartphone with both the touchscreen and keyboard.
All the preview images I’ve seen of RIM’s much-anticipated BlackBerry 10 was on a full-touchscreen device. Earlier this week, however, N4BB leaked some clear images of a more classic looking BB10 device which includes the QWERTY keyboard. Read the rest of this entry
