Heroes Returns to NBC in 2015
Remember Heroes? Wasn’t that a pretty cool season of television? Sure, it dragged a bit at points but, on the whole, it always seemed fairly interesting and compelling. That 2006-07 season was a ratings and critical hit.
Then the second season of the show dropped and things very quickly stopped making any sense. When the show stopped being interesting, the people stopped watching and the critics stopped caring. The show slowly bled viewers until it was mercifully killed by NBC following its fourth season.
However, NBC execs are so desperate to shore up a network that’s competing with Univision for 4th in ratings any time The Voice isn’t on that they’re going back to the well. NBC announced that they’re reviving Heroes for a 13-episode miniseries called Heroes Reborn and bringing back creator Tim Kring to helm it.
TV series reboots/reimaginings aren’t something new to TV. CBS is doing alright with its modern version of Hawaii Five-0. The Charlie’s Angels reboot on ABC died a quick death as did their Dragnet reboot starring Ed O’Neill. NBC also had their own failure with a modernized Knight Rider that didn’t star The Hoff or Mr. Feeny. Currently, Fox is trying to revive 24 in a miniseries to air this spring in a manner similar to how NBC is planning to revive Heroes.
No details have been announced for the Heroes Reborn miniseries. NBC has only announced that it will be 13 episodes and be headed up by Tim Kring. There has been no announcement as to if any characters from the original run will return, when the show will be set relative to the original series and what it’s going to be about.
If Heroes was a one season show and they were planning to bring it back now, I would be all for it. However, having all but given up on Heroes after getting totally confused during the 2nd season and completely giving up part way through season three, I can’t say that I’m looking forward to this. Heck, I was the last of my friends to give up on this show. They all bailed during season two. I should have listened.
Maybe Tim Kring has something left up his sleeve but the last season and change that I watched doesn’t leave me with much hope. Is there someone out there excited for the return of Heroes? Am I being realistic or pessimistic here?

I’d be excited if Brian Fuller was involved, but that seems unlikely. I will probably watch it still. Maybe I’m a masochist… I don’t know. I’m not excited at all though. Seasons 2-4 were trainwrecks of varying degrees.

Not sure how I feel about this. I gave up in season 3. As a matter of fact, we only bought seasons 1-3. I will reserve judgment until I see it. Hopefully they will clear up some of the lingering questions.
