It’s Down to the Wire Again for GoD Factory: Wingmen
Earlier this year, we told you about the Kickstarter funding campaign for GoD Factory: Wingmen, a space combat simulation slash MOBA by Canadian indie developer Nine Dot Studios.
While the game may have failed in its first Kickstarter campaign over the course of this spring but Nine Dot hasn’t given up. They’re back with a second Kickstarter campaign to fund GoD Factory: Wingmen but they need your help to get it funded before the deadline in less than 48 hours.
GoD Factory: Wingmen’s unique space sim/MOBA hook is that you can custom build your own ship using over 1,000 parts from twelve different categories. Then you join three teammates in an epic multiplayer space battle to destroy the enemy’s cruiser (which is their base) by targeting it down component by component. Nine Dots promises that the gameplay will encourage players to work cooperatively to enhance their weapons and experiment with different strategies to succeed.
While the game looks pretty good with a very fluid, colourful and organic visual style in early builds, what’s most impressive is that Nine Dots says that they’ve been playing this game on laptops up to five years old. It’s always nice to see that GoD Factory’s audience isn’t going to be limited by high minimum hardware requirements considering what we are seeing from upcoming PC releases.
To get the game made, Nine Dot is looking for $70,000. That may not seem like a lot but they already have a publicly available alpha build of the game completed. The dev team has also put two years of their lives and their savings into this game and say that they’re dedicating to finishing this game. After the Kickstarter campaign is done, Nine Dot plans to start selling the game with a targeted full release of March 2014.
