Hotline Miami 2 Brings the Blood in its New Trailer

One of games on my list of the most anticipated games of 2014 has a new trailer. As you would expect, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is going to bring pain and blood and violence in copious amounts and the first gameplay trailer for HM2 is no different.

The most interesting thing from it is some of the special abilities that the characters seem to have. One can dodge. Another has a dodge move to keep you from being turned into Sonny Corleone. And the other is actually synchronized twins. Hopefully you can choose your character in each mission to help mix things up and add some replayability to the game.

How Much Would It Cost To Be Captain America?

With Captain America: Winter Soldier coming out this week, the internet’s occasional hobby of figuring out how much it would cost to be a superhero has come up again. This time, it’s about how much it costs to make Steve Rogers into Captain America. Unlike fellow Avenger, Iron Man (AKA Tony Stark), the Captain doesn’t have a lot of high-tech gadgets. In fact, apart from lab costs to make the serum and the materials cost for the shield, just about anyone could afford to be Captain America.

StarCrafts is Back for Season 3

For those of you who haven’t heard of Carbot Animations probably think that I’ve made an embarrassing typo in the title but I haven’t. StarCrafts is a StarCraft parody animated series that features some cute looking and acting characters. You might not get some of the humour if you’re not a SC player/fan but I think everyone would appreciate the look of StarCrafts.

A Look Ahead to Season Four of Game of Thrones

We’re just three weeks away from the start of Season Four of Game of Thrones. For this week’s Friday of Ice and Fire, we have HBO’s 15-minute preview video of the upcoming season that features cast interviews and clips from upcoming episodes. This video got me more excited for this season than any of the trailers did.

By the way, there are spoilers in this video. You probably guessed that, though.

Did I Mention that Lando Calrissian is on Dancing with the Stars?

He might be 77-years-old, had two hip replacements and has an arthritic back but that isn’t stopping Billy Dee Williams, better known as Lando Calrissian, from giving it a go on Dancing with the Stars.

Billy Dee’s age and bad everything means he isn’t the best dancer on DWTS this season but Lando still has the crowd in the palm of his hand. He’s still a charmer 31 years on from Return of the Jedi. People still love him and hopefully the crowd reaction makes Abrams and company write Lando into Star Wars: Episode 7.

Anyway, here’s Billy Dee dancing a cha cha to Meco’s Star Wars disco. Regardless of what you think of the dance, it’s great to see Lando being Lando again.

The Rise of Video Game Economies

Money is something that we talk about a lot on et geekera (and it’s something that is likely to come up again soon in an upcoming beta impressions post). However, we never really talk about some of the theory behind the rise of virtual economies in video games. Fortunately, PBS’ Offbook YouTube channel brought in a Cornell business professor and a Rutgers law professor to explain the theory and rise of video game economies.

Inside Westeros with the Cast of Game of Thrones

For the first, and likely only, time on the blog, we have some video from Vanity Fair. The entertainment magazine is doing a Game of Thrones themed cover shoot ahead of the fourth season premiere. For this edition of Fridays of Ice and Fire, the cast of Game of Thrones examine their characters and the state of Westeros.

The Worf of Starfleet

Who need Leo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese and perfect hair when you can have Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes and Klingon drinking songs? While The Wolf of Wall Street had a pretty good trailer, it doesn’t top this trailer for The Worf of Starfleet.

Conan Reviews WWE 2K14

He might be about four months late with this review but I shouldn’t complain about a new Clueless Gamer segment with Conan O’Brien. This time out, he reviews WWE 2K14. It was one of my 13 favourite games of 2013 but where does it land on the ever-changing Conan scale of game ratings?

This House of Cards / Walking Dead Intro Mashup is Appropriate and Awesome

While politics interests me, I often find it painful to follow and discuss with people. Any optimism I once had about politics has long since been washed away by cynicism. That’s convenient because I’m getting cynical about The Walking Dead since I just assume that it’ll be dreadfully dull to watch and discuss.

Okay, that segue is a pretty poor introduction to this mashup of House of Cards and The Walking Dead but it can’t be any worst than the obligatory “This is awesome!” that this intro by District 7 Media deserves.
