Star Wars Original Trilogy Trailers Redone in The Force Awakens Style

I think that one of the unsung heroes of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens was the guys who cut together the trailer. It got people hyped for the movie while giving almost nothing away apart from who was in the movie. In a day and age when movie trailers are closer to two-minute synopses of the movies they’re supposed to be previewing, The Force Awakens might have had one of the best trailers in recent memory.

Since The Force Awakens is getting comparisons to the original trilogy, YouTuber Tom F decided to flip the script. He recut trailers for the original Star Wars trilogy in the style of The Force Awakens’s trailer. The result is pretty good, especially Empire’s.

Game Trailers Roundup for January 4, 2016

After three weeks off, the Game Trailers Roundup comes back with… not a lot really. Over the last three weeks, I’ve found six new trailers. If you’re looking forward to Kingdom Hearts, Unravel or The Long Dark, I suppose that this would be moderately interesting. Granted, we shouldn’t be surprised. Christmas is more about buying/playing games than hyping them.

Movie Trailers Roundup for December 16, 2015

I’ve been looking for a way to have a full five days of 5:00 PM weekly posts for et geekera. We do game trailers on Monday, comic book releases on Tuesday, eSports events on Thursday and links on Friday. If you’ve read the title of this post, I think it’s time for us to do movie trailers on Wednesdays. It may not stay here for long as I’ve been considering switching the eSports Weekend Calendar to Wednesday but let’s see how this goes for now.

For the first movie trailers roundup, we have eight trailers for you to watch. Four of them are for some of next summer’s blockbuster releases, including the new Star Trek movie that seems to borrow from The Search for Spock and the Independence Day sequel that likely won’t include the line “welcome to Earf.” There is also a teaser trailer for a Steven Spielberg children’s movie which is the first time in forever that we’ve been able to say that.

Game Trailers Roundup for December 14, 2015

You would think that between The Game Awards and PlayStation Experience that we’d be completely out of game trailers for the roundup but I would be wrong. Last week, we had 11 trailers for the roundup. This week’s pickings are a little more slim at only eight trailers for you to watch.

Most of the trailers are for upcoming games like XCOM 2, Lego Marvel’s Avengers or Dying Light: Enhanced Edition. However, Nintendo has a couple of launch trailers from last week’s releases of Devil’s Third and FAST Racing Neo. We might be too close to Christmas for me to have sufficient shopping time but there are still games that you can buy coming out in the home stretch.

Game Trailers Roundup for December 7, 2015

Didn’t we just do a trailers roundup? I thought that the special TGA videos and trailers from this weekend’s PlayStation Experience should be put on the blog separately of the rest of the trailers that have been released over the last seven days. Eleven of those trailers are in today’s Game Trailers Roundup.

We have launch trailers for Xenoblade Chronicles X, Just Cause 3 and Dreamfall Chapters: Revelations. There is also a trailers for Rooster Teeth’s first game, RWBY: Grimm Eclipse. And there’s now a launch date for Life is Strange: Limited Edition which I would consider getting because it was an awesome game. By the way, etg’s Top 15 of 2015 is coming December 24th. I thought that was worth mentioning. I should probably start writing it.

The PlayStation Experience 2015 Game Trailer Roundup

playstation-experience-2015There’s not one but two video game trailer roundups today. The first one comes from this year’s PlayStation Experience event that Sony held over the weekend to celebrate all things PlayStation and generate a little bit of hype as we cross the halfway point between this year’s and next year’s E3.

The PlayStation Experience had a lot of new footage and new games unveiled at the show this year. I’m thinking that it might worth saving up for a press trip there instead of E3. Anyway, we have 18 trailers from PSX to show you including a story trailer for Uncharted 4, the first look at gameplay of the Final Fantasy VII remake and the unveiled Ni No Kuni II.

The Game Awards Trailer Roundup

The Game Awards were last night. As expected, with the exception of the aforementioned #FucKonami moment, the majority of the interest in the TGAs were focused on new trailers and game premieres that make The Game Awards the show that we know and don’t really love. It’s basically a light, condensed version of E3.

Anyway, there were 11 new trailers shown during last night’s three-hour The Game Awards show and apparently only Best Shooter wasn’t mentioned during the show, Games for Change’s winner was the only mention of that category and most of The Witcher 3’s awards were mentioned when it picked up Game of the Year. So that’s probably an improvement. And there four new game reveals that we have for you as well. Telltale Games and Xbox had five trailers between them on the night so if you’re a fan of them, there’s lots for you here.

Game Trailers Roundup for November 30, 2015

This week is a quiet few week for the Game Trailers Roundup because most of the big trailers are being saved for Thursday’s The Game Awards. I’m not a huge fan of the cross between what Geoff Keighley wants to be the Oscars of gaming and an industry marketing event but publishers like revealing footage on Keighley’s platform. It’s how his awards shows are still running even if the Oscars or Golden Globes aren’t directly used as a marketing platform for other movies.

Anyway, we have six trailers for you to watch today including three for games that will be launched in the next week-and-a-half. And depending on how fast videos get to YouTube, we might have a TGA Trailers Roundup on Friday.

Game Trailers Roundup for November 23, 2015

As I am wont to do to start a new week, Monday ends with a roundup of all the noteworthy trailers from the past seven days. I say noteworthy because there were some DLC and “accolades” trailers that I left out here. I don’t understand the accolades ones especially. There was one for AC Syndicate but how can anyone say with a straight face that it’s the best one in ages when its aggregated review score is about 10 points less than AC4 from two years ago?

Anyway, this week’s roundup has nine trailers for four games. It’s mostly indie releases in the roundup this week with Just Cause 3 as the triple-A representative this week, including their 4K trailer. I asked Square Enix for details on what was needed to run Just Cause 3 in 4K at max settings. I’m still waiting on an answer but I would guess that it’s more power than most could afford.

Game Trailers Roundup for November 16, 2015

This week’s Game Trailers Roundup is pretty quiet with only five trailers for you. Two of them are from EA for the upcoming Battlefront and the next UFC game which we might have already mentioned today. Meanwhile, the latest Nintendo Direct brought us trailers for Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox Zero and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.
