Game of Thrones: Sons of the Harpy Review

game-of-thrones-the-sons-of-the-harpy-headerWhile the first three episodes were pretty good, if a bit slow, Game of Thrones needed to pull the trigger on something big to keep most people engaged in the show. Last week, I called it “the fireworks factory.” This week, Game of Thrones went bang. If you were waiting for something big to happen, you were certainly taken care of this week.

Game of Thrones: High Sparrow Review

game-of-thrones-high-sparrow-headerI think people are starting to come around on this season of Game of Thrones. It might be because we got some killing and dragon action last week. However, it might be because people have come to realize that non-stop action like we had last season just isn’t sustainable. You can have action without blood being spilled. While it looks like we are quickly approaching the bigger budget and bigger action portion of the season, it didn’t start this week. However, the pieces keep moving into their places but they move in such unpredictable and entertaining ways, you can’t help but feel enthralled.

Game of Thrones: The House of Black and White Review

game-of-thrones-house-of-black-and-white-headerI was a little surprised last week when most of the people I know weren’t so high on the season premiere. I don’t know what there was to not like last week but not much changed this week. Sure, death got a big return this week after a week off in The Wars to Come but sex and violence isn’t the be all and end all of TV.

Much like last week, we got a look at many of the characters around Westeros. Unlike last week which saw some loose threads tied up, a whole host of new stories were kicked off this week.

How to Plan a Game of Thrones Wedding (Infographic)

I don’t remember if I mentioned this but an acquaintance of mine had a plan for her wedding last year. She said she was going to have the Rains of Castamere as she and her new husband walked out of the wedding. I then informed her that if she pulled that stunt, I would dive out a window.

Anyway, you can have a great Game of Thrones themed wedding without murdering at least three guests. After all, people do theme weddings already so why not use the best show on TV as your guide. Fortunately, we have a handy infographic to help you plan that GoT-themed wedding.

Game of Thrones: The Wars to Come Review

game-of-thrones-s05e01-headerSo forty-some weeks of waiting have come to an end. Game of Thrones came back this week to near unprecedented hype for an HBO series. Maybe True Detective will top it but that’ll be hard to see. More so than carrying on with an epic fourth season, the fifth season premiere was tasked with living up to the hype. Fortunately, it more than lived up to what we hoped. In fact, you could call it a force to be reckoned with.

Dominik Omega Raps Game of Thrones

If you listened to Catch The Throne, HBO’s Game of Thrones inspired album, you might remember that one track that was a rap about Arya. That was by Dominik Omega. He might not be the biggest emcee in the world but he’s an avid book reader, not just a show watcher, and can drop some sick rhymes about the books and its characters.

Since I’m fond of a little music on a Friday afternoon, here’s both of Dominik Omega’s raps about Game of Thrones for Friday of Thrones.

Game of Thrones: The Children Review

game-of-thrones-stannis-baratheon-headerEpisode Tens are usually quiet episodes in Game of Thrones seasons. The big moments from the last couple of episodes are very neatly tied up with some new plot threads dangled to keep you interested in the next season. While those fresh threads were teased in this episode, a lot more than just quick little tie-ups happened this week. Yeah, I can see why the producers submitted this for a writing Emmy.

Game of Covers: A Collection of Game of Thrones Theme Covers

We’re down to the last episode of the season on Sunday night. On the one hand, this means I can start reading A Storm of Swords without having to worry too much about spoilers. On the other, that means we have to wait another ten months for more episodes of Game of Thrones. After this season, I’m not sure I can wait that long for more GoT.

And waiting is a good enough segue to bring us to the final Friday of Ice and Fire of the season. Many of my GoT watching friends aren’t big fans of sitting through the nearly two minutes-long title sequence. I, on the other hand, love it. I love the guided tour of key locations in Westeros and Essos. I like that we’re not stuck with only a title card like so many other shows. And I love the theme song.

So for today’s Friday of Ice and Fire, I found a whole pile of great Game of Thrones theme song covers for you to listen to.

Game of Thrones: The Watchers on the Wall Review

game-of-thrones-jon-snow-headerThe ninth episode of each season of Game of Thrones has a bit of a reputation. After all, each of the three previous ninth episodes have been absolutely epic episodes. Seasons One and Three had game changing moments to end the episode. Season Two had a big budget epic. This season’s ninth episode is closer to the latter than the former which is probably appropriate given that the director of Blackwater came back for The Watchers on the Wall.

Fans React to The Mountain and The Viper

Let’s get this out of the way first: SPOILERS!

There was no other possible choice for this week’s edition of Fridays of Ice and Fire. As soon as we saw this week’s episode, we all knew that the reaction videos were coming. Fortunately, the book readers had us covered again. It’s as if they take a sadistic pleasure in watching us suffer, much in the same way that GRRM loves making us suffer.

So here are a few fan reaction videos. Once again: Spoilers.
