WB Games Montreal is Working on Two DC Comics Games

wb-games-logoSometimes, you don’t need an insider leak to tell you what a developer and publisher are up to. You might just want to look at the job listings. On the front page of their website, Warner Bros Games Montreal announced that they starting work on two new games that are “focused on expanding the DC Comics universe in the interactive space.”

Job postings on WB Games Montreal’s website cover a number of senior positions including programming, animation, audio and art. Basically, they’re trying to assemble an army to work on two new triple-A DC Comics games.

The real secret is what these games are. It’s probably far too late to expect anything but a 2017 game release considering the number of postings that WB Montreal has. I would expect movie tie-ins or DC Comics IP connected to movies to be the top priority for new games. In 2017, WB/DC are releasing a Wonder Woman movie and a Justice League movie. A Wonder Woman movie would probably be the easier of the two to program. Flash and Aquaman are getting movies in 2018 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them on the to-do list for WB Montreal.

Back in June, IGN reported that one game on the slate at WB Montreal was an open-world action game. That wouldn’t be too unfamiliar for them given their experience with the Batman: Arkham series. They also reported that the game was likely to be in Unreal Engine 4. The Arkham series was developed in Unreal 3 so a step up to Unreal 4 would be expected at some point.

So if you had your wish, which DC Comic IPs would be next in line for the game treatment?
