GOG Has a Special Government Shut Down Promo

gog-headerVarious business around Washington, D.C., and the US capital area are having special promotions for government workers who have been furloughed or are working unpaid while everyone plays chicken with the US and global economies.

Now, GOG.com have gotten in on the US government shut down promotion action. Not only do they have some political themed games on sale but they’re giving away games to furloughed workers.

For 24 hours from 9:00 AM EDT today (October 9th), the folks at GOG are offering The Guild: Gold Edition, Capitalism Plus, Capitalism 2, Tropico Reloaded, Alpha Centuari, Theme Hospital and Redneck Rampage for 50% off their regular price.

As a bonus for furloughed government workers, you can get all those games for free. If you send your picture and a picture of your government employee ID to them at thanksobama@gog.com by noon EDT tomorrow (October 10th), they’ll give you those games to occupy your time while the politicians try to waste yours.

Without getting into the middle of this stupid fight that is just going to waste everyone’s time and is on course to damage the global economy, I like that GOG is willing to have a little fun with the shut down. We make a big deal over the big sales that the likes of Steam and GOG have but it’s nice to get games at a discount, even if the sale’s theme is a bit unusual.

At least you can use these games to show that you’re better at running a government than your own government. Not that that would be a big challenge these days.
