It’s the Final Push for Space Sim MOBA “GoD Factory: Wingmen” on Kickstarter

god-factory-wingmen-headerToday is Canada Day so that means we’re taking a break for the holiday today. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t give out a bit of love to some fellow Canadians.

Back in May, we previewed space combat sim slash MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) GoD Factory: Wingmen by Quebec-based indie developer Nine Dots Studios. We’re finally reaching the end of their Kickstarter funding campaign but they could still use your help to make this cool looking game a reality.

GoD Factory: Wingmen unique space sim/MOBA hood is that you can custom build your own ship using parts from twelve different categories. Then you join with three teammates in an epic multiplayer space battle to destroy the enemy’s cruiser (which is their base). Nine Dots promises gameplay that encourages players to work cooperatively to enhance their weapons and experiment with different strategies to succeed.

While the game looks pretty sharp with a very fluid and artistic visual style in early builds, what’s perhaps the most impressive is that Nine Dots says that they’ve been playing this game on laptops up to five years old. It’s always comforting to back a project that is accessible to a way audience rather than limited by hardware limitations.

As I mentioned back in May, it’s worth noting that Kickstarter is the first step in GoD Factory: Wingmen’s funding. The next step is the alpha funding model which we’ve seen prominently on Steam in the Early Access program. It’s also how Minecraft got a bunch of its funding. Basically, alpha funding involves selling the game in an alpha state at a discount to get some cash in the door to complete the game and gather feedback to improve it. From there, Nine Dots is looking to get a government grant for additional funding.

Currently, GoD Factory: Wingmen has only four days of their Kickstarter campaign left to reach their $70,000 goal. As of writing, the campaign is over the $26,000 mark but has seen an upward trend in pledges since the ten days to go mark.

I backed it weeks ago and hope you will pledge funding if you haven’t yet. But I’m biased. I love space sims and I love to support Canadian companies.

Check out GoD Factory: Wingmen on Kickstarter. You can also help it get green lit on Steam Greenlight.
