Journey and Deus Ex Win April Fools’ Day

Among all the other April Fools’ Day pranks and jokes, games developers like to get in on the fun. The press seemed to like the Sony buys Nintendo joke. I read that a couple of times yesterday. Granted, I thought yesterday’s best April Fools’ joke was The Walking Dead’s season finale. *rimshot*

Anyway, ThatGameCompany and Eidos Montreal both had the best pranks of the day with a couple of “new game” reveals.

My personal favourite was TGC’s new Journey DLC. I was a huge fan of Journey and called it my game of the year for 2012. So what happens when TGC goes mainstream with Journey. They take the beautiful art and silent co-op elements and add a rocket shooting competitive multiplayer mode!

Meanwhile, Eidos was a little more forward thinking about their April Fools’ Day prank. When the gaming press found out about the Deus Ex: Human Defiance trademark, they went to work on a fake game (and game pitch) for April Fool’s Day.
