GameStop’s Supply of PS4s Runs Dry, Halts Pre-Orders
In June, Sony gave GameStop carte blanche to take as many pre-order for PlayStation 4s as they could. Supply wasn’t going to be a concern. An internal memo to GameStop store from management said “the floodgates are open.”
Well, it seems that the floodgates were a bit too open for Sony to keep up with. The standard PlayStation 4 console is no longer available for pre-order on GameStop’s website as they’ve sold out of PS4s.
Based on reports by PlayStation LifeStyle, the time between the unlimited pre-order edict and PS4s selling out is just over two weeks. Even with pre-orders for the PS4 being available for almost three weeks before that, demand is still very high for the next-gen Sony console and people still want their hands on a PlayStation 4 on launch day.
While pre-ordering just the console is no longer available on GameStop’s website, you can still buy bundles from their website. Amazon is still taking pre-orders for the PS4 console without a games bundle.
