Much to Everyone’s Surprise The Phantom Pain is Metal Gear Solid V

At GDC, Heido Kojima let us in on the biggest secret in the video game industry that isn’t really a secret at all. The Phantom Pain, a game originally teased at the 2012 Spike TV Video Game Awards, is actually the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V. The game will combine the previously unveiled Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain and will officially be titled Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
According to Kojima, Ground Zeroes comprises what he refers to as a prologue. When Ground Zeroes was originally unveiled, it looked like a sort of open-world rescue mission. The result of this mission leaves Solid Snake in a coma for nine years. When he comes out of the coma, we are at the start of The Phantom Pain in which Snake has to relearn how to function as a person again after having spent nearly a decade in a coma.
Konami said that MGS5 will be out for the Xbox 360 and PS3. They haven’t confirmed next-gen consoles yet but it’s a near certainty that the game will be on the PS4 and Xbox 720. It’s not so much a matter of if they’ll be on those consoles as when we find out.
Also of note is that the long-time voice of Solid Snake, David Hayter, says that he hasn’t been asked to voice Snake in this game. As excited as Metal Gear fans are likely to be for this game, I doubt this news will go over well.
